"If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world." - Thorin Oakenshield
Stolen Silver Spoons Lite reminds us two things can be true: You can be fierce and gentle. You can be small and still have a significant impact.
A reminder many of us could use.π§Ά

I have a new pattern coming next week. It feels ridiculous to be posting about it. But I know art is why lots of us keep going.
I also know that finances are tight for most of us. So if you want to support my work without spending money (totally get it) check out my comment below for ideas. π§Ά
COMING NEXT WEEK!
It's finally happening, y'all! Stolen Silver Spoons Lite will be available on Ravelry and Ko-fi next week on Thursday, June 26th.
Who's ready to take another trip to the Shire? π§Ά
If you're wondering what I mean by a "knitting sabbatical": I'm purposefully taking some time away from designing garments to knit patterns by other designers I respect. This episode follows along as I choose which patterns to work on. π§Ά

Look, I know with everything going on right now, caring about a new podcast episode feels dumb.
But after 2 months away, I uploaded a new episode π Turns out I've been struggling with creative burnout.
So I'm taking a knitting "sabbatical." Come plan my projects with me? π§Ά

I wrote a blog post touching on this subject (through Tolkien, of course). You can read it here: ko-fi.com/post/Communi...
We each have gifts, we all have agency, and for some of us (me included), resistance looks a little different.
Doing nothing is the true enemy.
Some of us aren't able to attend protests for accessibility reasons. It got me thinking...
We all have the capacity to stand up and gifts to use in times of turmoil. If you can't attend protests, don't despair. Use your agency. Protests are only one arm of resistance - we need all hands to win.
Thank you! It was absolute *torture*, so glad it's over!

That is all.

My creative process may be punk AF. Not because of what I create, but because of *why* I create.
When something bad happens, I feel an intense pull to make something connected to things that make me feel strong and full of hope.
When the world says, "Eat shit" my heart says: "Fuck that. Make art."

Over the last week, I've been celebrating my Hobbit inspired designs. Let's highlight Stolen Silver Spoons.
This pattern was born from Imposter Syndrome. But from her sprung an adventure.
Spoons proves 2 things can be true. You can be fierce and gentle. And you can't have courage without fear. π§Ά

05.05.2025 15:28 β π 4 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0I feel like we talk a lot about successes as knitwear designers, which is great!
But I don't tend to hear about the flops. So here's mine: Chiefest Calamity Cowl. This colorwork pattern is inspired by Smaug. Idk why he flopped.
I love my dragon anyway. He's also 25% off rn. π§Ά Use the code EREBOR.
On this day in Middle Earth, April 28th, the dwarves of Erevor left Bag End to retake the Lonely Mountain. Let's celebrate their quest!

#Tolkien #Nerd
Y'all know I'm a huge nerd. I design knitting patterns based on seriously nerdy shit, I run an international Discord server for nerdy fiber artists, I host a nerdy podcast...
I love a good fandom. In case there's any doubt: Harry Potter ain't a good fandom.
Trans women are women. Fuck JK Rowling.
Omg the color you chose - that's one of my absolute favorites!!! It looks amazing π€©

Hey, fellow knitters, I'm feeling particularly creatively dead lately. I'm trying to stoke the fire. So I'm wondering: What are your favorite Spring Knitting Projects?
Usually, I love a good hat - like the ones pictured here. Maybe it's time for a new hat project...what do y'all think? #knitting π§Ά
