Bonus The image contains an extra 2 panel comic showing the aftermath of everything once the Atlantean returns to the Cortalli. Panel 1: The Cortalli Girl is in shock with a hand to her head as she thinks aloud, musing about the trip that the Atlantean took to go back and forth between her and Vivian’s cottage. A map in the background physically shows the journey. She says “But if you came from Dawngate, then that means you swam across the Atlantean Ocean Three times!!” The Atlantean replies: “Of course! We’re soulmates, aren’t we?” Panel 2: The Cortalli girl softens up incredibly at that response. Her eye goes wide and she is blushing profusely. She stutters out “Wow…That’s…That’s the nicest thing anyone has ever done for me…” she appears to now be infatuated with the Atlantean man.

Each Image is one standalone panel of this 7-Panel comic Panel 1: A young Atlantean man sheepishly approaches an Ashen Cortalli woman in the foreground. He is smiling and blushing while she looks unamused and bothered by his presence, barely looking back at him while she holds a cigarette between her fingers. The two appear to be connected by a glowing purple thread. The Atlantean says: “Excuse me, miss! This is going to sound strange, but I drank a soulmates potion and it let me see a magic thread that led me to you. W-would you perhaps like to go on a date with me?”

Panel 2: The woman angrily turns around to face him with a hand on her hip as she says “So let me get this straight, fish boy. I should go out on a date with you because some magic thread that only YOU can see said so? Sounds CONVENIENT. How ‘bout some proof?” The Atlantean boy is panicking as he stammers: “B-but I finished the potion and tossed the bottle!”

Panel 3: The Atlantean boy is back at Vivian’s cottage having just told her this story, culminating his explanation by saying “…so now I need another soulmates potion from you to prove myself!” Vivian replies: “I’d also recommend you buy a truth serum in case she thinks you’re lying about the potion” The Atlantean replies: “Good call! Whatever the cost, add it to my order!”

Panel 4: The scene shifts perspective slightly focusing now on Galem, you was slightly off screen before and Vivian. Galem leans in with his eyes narrowed and hands on his hips stating “I can’t help but feel that you’re taking advantage of his situation” Vivian leans back towards him with her fingers arched together and a sly grin on her face as she replies “That’s business, baby!”

It’s Day 2 of Soulmates Week! Today we realize how odd of a concept this would be to try to explain to someone as a young Atlantean man as he attempts to court his skeptical Cortalli soulmate.

Panel 5: The scene has a similar background and composition to the last one, except this time we zoom in on a woman we have not seen before. She has brown skin and black, wavy hair, and is wearing sleeveless blouse and a pearl necklace. She has he eyes shut with an elated smile. The man’s dialogue finishes the sentence “…I found her”

Panel 6: The scene zooms out. Everyone is in a park in an urban area. The woman is in the foreground accompanied by her family consisting of another man with his arm around her, their young daughter, and an infant being rolled in a stroller by the woman. They look happy. The man we’ve been following the story of looks on at this scene from the background, the thread attaching him to the happily married woman. His expression looks grim and his eyes are covered by shadow. The narration begins again, saying: “unfortunately, I was too late. She was already wed with a family. She may not have found her soulmate, but she was happy nonetheless.”

Panel 7: the man is back in Vivian’s cottage with his arms crossed as he finishes his story, saying “All that is to say, I think I deserve a refund for all that fruitless effort!” Vivian is in the foreground with an angry expression, yelling: “Like hell you do! The potion worked! It’s not my fault she got hitched!”

Each Image is one standalone panel of this 7-Panel comic Panel 1: A man with shoulder-length black hair in an olive green shirt is standing in a swamp. Each Image is 1 panel of a 4 panel comic. Panel 1: Galem is looking up at the gemstone in his staff, inside which is a visage of Vivian. Galem says: “I’m sorry I can’t come and see you this week, Vivian. Between the snow and frigid temperature, it’s too dangerous for either of us to travel to the other.” Vivian’s visage smiles back at Galem and replies “Oh don’t worry Galem! I can get over there just fine!”

Panel 2: The scene changes to Vivian in her cottage talking back to a visage to Galem in her brooch gemstone. In her other hand, she’s holding her broomstick. Galem’s visage responds back to her saying she’ll be fine by asking “How so? Some kind of frost-resistance potion?” Vivian replies: “No silly! I’ll fly by broom the old-fashioned way! I’ll be at your campus before I can even feel the cold!

Panel 3: The scene shifts back over to Galem. Vivian says “See you soon!” Before ther magical call ends with a -click!- Galem looks incredibly distraught and pulls his staff closer to him as he yells into it, shouting: “VIVIAN NO! YOU CANT FLY YOUR BROOM HERE! YOU DIDNT FACTOR IN THE WIND CHILL!! HELLO!?”

Panel 4: The scene changes over to an iced over Gloomhaven swamp. Kaz is dressed in full winter gear while Wyck is at her side dressed as normal. Kaz has her broochstone on her hand and is taking to a visage of Galem in it. She says “Hey Galem, it’s me. We found her. She was only able to fly a couple-hundred feet.” Vivian is completely frozen stiff clinging to her broomstick which has crash landed in the ground. Due to the stiffness of the cold, the crash has the top of her broomstick stuck in the ground, while the rest hovers above it like an axe embedded in a stump. Wyck is poking her out of curiosity.

This week’s #magexwitch is a limited Bluesky exclusive because I bungled something when queuing the update on Webtoon and their app is dumb and bad so I can’t fix it from the office!

Can confirm. I went to put one of my Webtoon format comics into a single image format, and it was a nightmare. If I ever take it to print it’s gonna be a lot of work getting the first 40 or so set up.

Since then, I only ever make my panels the same size or two halves of the same size.

I've yapped about the world of Nodderth enough. Now it's time for character facts:

Bree's main magic is metal manipulation, leading to the disappointment of many when she left Korrindus to be an Artificer instead of staying there to be a Tinker and help them craft hard-to-make metal parts.

There is a mix of Magic and Modern Technology in Nodderth due to advances made by the Nullborn (those without magic) in Nulheim. The rollout outside of Nulheim is mostly in major population centers.

Stranarch Academy has wi-fi, but students have to use magical batteries to power electronics.

A runic circle. The Components of a Magic Circle are as follows: 1. Elemental Composition 2. Cast Base 3. Cast Type 4. Spell Intent 5. Runic Name 6. Spell Form/Mind's Eye

I have a fully fleshed out system for runic magic. Every rune depicted in Mage x Witch follows these rules, even when the shape changes.

I could just link my entire doc explaining the runic magic system, but that would ruin the mystique.
