She carefully, intentionally, tucks the spool into the pocket of her suit jacket before striding past you, moving so deftly in contrast to your paralysis. The laugh in her voice, though subtler, never quite leaves.

"But do remember, at the end of the day, we're all full of string."

"Oh, don't fear, Agent. Unlike my early days, I've learned discretion. And I've got a friend to remind me should I ever forget it." A talon tink-ed the rim of her Rose-Colored monocle.

"So I know the difference between a harmless doll, and a doll that would be better off scrapped for material."

She sighs a sigh you cannot quite decipher. It's an odd intersection of mirth, exhaustion, and nostalgia. You distinctly notice an absence of remorse.

And finally, she looks at you again. Something she sees makes her chuckle softly.

After a moment, what material Stitches had snipped faded in luster, before evaporating into nothing. Even still, her gaze stayed to it. "Ever since the first time, that has been the sensation. The only difference is since then, I discovered how good it felt to make them come undone."

"You become fixated on seeing it through. You need to hold that bastard in your hands and see it come to an end."

"Until finally..."

Her talons slice suddenly, cleanly through, leaving that soular strand in two. "It's over. And all you have is a beautiful, beautiful mess to clean up."

"Now there's even more fabric for you to deal with. So you keep pulling, and pulling... and yanking, twisting, unraveling it all..." The rate of her work increases as she goes, carefully holding the spool that collects all that material.

"If you ever couldn't help yourself and started pulling... well, you've only made the problem worse."

The color of the material the secretary bird works with shifts rapidly. Sometimes sanguine, sometimes midnight, sometimes verdant, always ethereal. The low glow highlights the seamstress' shadows.

Stitches looks up from her task -- a still warm body, and a glowing strand of arcane energy pulled from the deceased's agape maw -- just long enough to catch your eye.

"One tiny, tiny little imperfection, reminding you how fragile it all is."
