Trumpβs tariffs on Canadian aluminum are unfair and unproductive. Weβre pushing the government to counter with targeted tariffs on US products and find new markets for Canadian aluminum. Weβll do everything we can to support the 1,500 workers at the Kitimat smelter.

Amidst a chaotic day in Ottawa, this appeared on page 248 of the federal governmentβs Fall Economic Statement. Work remains to make it a reality, but an official federal commitment is a big milestone in our efforts to secure fairness for Haida Gwaii. Congrats to all who worked to reach this point.
