High tide takes the marsh road.

Just before darkness took complete control a Barn Owl emerged over Llanrhidian Marsh and proceeded to hunt. Later it appeared in front of the car as I drove off, flying above and ahead of me for several seconds before veering away. Absolute magic. #birdingWales

The Pallid Harrier showed on and off this eve between 17:00 and 18:30 when it went down to roost. Nice to see plumage details in the flat light, though photos are awful. 2 Glossy Ibis dropped in behind the sewage works an hour apart. #birdingWales #rareBirdsUK #UKWildlife @birdsinwales.bsky.social

Dipper

Very pleasantly surprised to first hear and then see this Dipper in full song along the stream through Stepaside yesterday. I hadn’t realised that they sang at this time of year, a welcome chorus during these quieter months. #birdingWales #UKWildlife #birdsoftheworld @birdsinwales.bsky.social

I was lucky enough to see the Pallid Harrier on Saturday as well, again quartering Llanrhidian Marsh just before sunset. Too far on that occasion for photos but a relief after dipping the Dowrog bird last winter. Also present a Swallow and pair of Kestrels. #birdingWales @birdsinwales.bsky.social

This morning walked from Sandsend to Kettleness. Pair of Red-legged Partridge, Yellow Wagtail over, large flocks of Linnet & Goldfinch in the clifftop fields along with several Yellowhammer. Peregrine, Kestrel, Sparrowhawk plus my first Pink-footed Geese of the autumn. #UKBirding #UKWildlife

Enjoyable trip out with @yorkscoastnature.bsky.social from Staithes this eve. Relatively quiet but highlights were two flocks of Barnacle Geese (12 & 60) heading south, 6 Red-throated Diver, 10 Gannet, c40 Wigeon, 2 Kittiwake plus this lovely Fulmar which flew in to visit. #UKBirding #UKWildlife
