There is plenty of room on the left for bad ideas, there should be more room for criticism.
I wrote about this when it passed with @alexbirnel.bsky.social - it's major setback for local democracy in Texas, especially given the weakness of the opposition to state-wide one-party rule.
It does show that the GOP is afraid of the victories won at the local level.
The Texas Court of Appeals ruled in favor of the "Death Star Bill" - this bill became famous because it would be used to end workers' protections like water breaks. But it is much more sinister than that; it will effectively bar cities from passing any law opposed by the GOP
