I am not historically an NWSL talker but with MLS behind a pay wall, I watched more NWSL last year than MLS. And the tactical strategies in the league in the data has gotten me super excited for the season as well as adding two awesome franchises
on the mystery wrapped in an enigma that is a good striker who doesn't get into the box or shoot very often

I think youโre on the John Muller analytics list or something similar
Great round of champions league. @shelatneel.bsky.social โs preview on the newsletter really set the scene
I donโt know about the ideal location, but I do think the ideal NYCFC statue is Keaton and Maxi posed like this
Ramsey the key here. Heโs the one Barca seem to be struggling to pick up. #nufc
Do Spurs have a third goalkeeper they can put in?
Carlos Vela derby๐ฅ
Arsenal's accounts for 2024-25 were published last week and I was fascinated to see that gate receipts now account for just 22.3% of turnover. The table below shows how reliant the club has been on gate receipts since WW1.
I do not understand how Ipswich are not winning this match

I pulled some data via @americansocceranalysis.com's {itscalledsoccer} and while home advantage has never started out so high in an MLS season since 2013, it is not quite the highest ever (only 98.41 percentile).
I suspect this is an aberration and it will bounce around just like it always has.
Champions league and Championship, the Paramount+ double double
I will be there and seated
So youโre telling me that after tonight spurs play Atleti, Liverpool, Atleti again and then have the colossal game against Forest?
Oh dear
Rodrygo is out for the World Cup with an ACL.
The name to replace him might surprise you.
Plus, why can't Man City close out games?

Niche content: Corinthians Feminino put a player on either side of the box at penalties, rather than having everyone behind the box. I used Pythagorasโ theorem for the first time since my GCSEs and watched 50 saved penalties to see if others should do it too. โฌ๏ธ

So for years MLS was the most homefield advantage-heavy league in the world, though that had been fraying a bit the past half-decade.
Well, guess what? So far in 2026 home teams are 15W-1L-3D. And the home teams are both winning the 7:30 games, which, if they hold on, makes it 17-1-3.
It doesnโt feel like the weekend until I read the @kimischilling.bsky.social Friday newsletter
Am always here for some Olise chat
it's literally going to happen again next season ๐ญ
Found an excuse to make some flashy dataviz to display how different the points distribution in the 2025/26 Premier League is compared to recent seasons.
LAFC beats Inter Miami 3-0 in front of a 75k crowd.
Statement win, dominant performance by LAFC to set the tone in 2026 in a hugely anticipated match for the preseason top two in the league.
Always a treat when @kimischilling.bsky.social writes on MLS.

I reposted earlier but I think this is the kind of analysis that doesnโt happen often in public that is really interesting and relevant to teams
I shared @experimental361.com โs squad turnover with Fleetwood in 2019. Once we got SB data, we tracked across leagues. Was key in our team building
