The film ended and no one moved. It was just stunned silence broken by the sobs of a few people in the theater who couldn’t hold back, including my child.

The husband and kiddo love going to Ghibli Fest films, and since it is our anniversary I figured we would make it into a family affair, after all Ghibli films are usually somewhat lighthearted.

It was Grave of the Fireflies. Which none of us had ever seen before.

Well this is a very nice gift.

It’s been 19 years since that sunny August afternoon at a tiny church in our hometown. We were living in Nashville at the time but knew that home was where we wanted to make those memories. We had already been together for 7 years when we got married at the age of 24. We were just babies.

We went to DC last year to see a concert and it actually felt safer than some parts of Erie. Now granted we were near all of the federal buildings which is likely not where most crime occurs but it didn’t seem like the dystopian hellscape that the idiot in chief thinks it is.

The husband is off work this week as well which means the kiddo is listening to music on the big speakers in the living room. She's currently dancing the lizard around the room to broadway musicals and this might just be better than going on a legitimate vacation. Eva may disagree.

I’ve gone through 1/2 gallon of Behr paint and 3/4 gallon of Sherwin Williams and I still haven’t achieved a suitable finish on this dining table. So all that money on paint and I’m going to need to get a tablecloth, which sucks cause I hate them.

Why don’t we just hand Texas, Florida, or Oklahoma to Russia? We can call it a “territory swap” for goodwill. Americans can just leave and go somewhere else or live under Russian rule. Absurd, right? Stop suggesting people should just give up their home to an invader.

Trump keeps talking about all the “innocent” people that might be hurt if the Epstein files are released, but not one mention of the innocent victims who were abused by the very people he’s protecting. That’s all you need to know.

Ok here’s an idea: let’s skip all of the misery and just get him out of office now. And then none of this can happen.

I am an officer in a local chapter of an international organization. If I didn’t show up to a meeting because I wanted to block a vote people would be annoyed, not putting a warrant out for my arrest. If you can be arrested for not doing your job we better open a GOP prison. And send Fetterman too.

Well. That’s not entirely true. We have yet to find a good replacement for their nuggets. The kiddo loved them so much until they changed. No one else has compared for her yet.

The crumbles meal starters were what we used for tacos and pasta sauce and meatloaf but when they became new and improved they got super sticky and dry. We just tried the Impossible version and we are officially off of MSFs now.

I’ve been a vegetarian for 17 years and for the majority of that we used Morningstar Farms as a meat substitute. Until the inevitable happened and they started cutting corners to save costs and the quality went down. So we have been working on replacements and we finally replaced the last thing.

It blew my mind that there were people who voted for the mango moron because of the economy. Did they forget we were nose diving into a recession in 2019?

I used Behr dynasty on our hutch and still have a lot left. I’m contemplating just stripping this all the way back down and using that. It laid so much better, was way easier to work with and has held up amazing to our typical abuse.

This idiot. Is there anywhere that gas has gone down an appreciable amount? It’s been bouncing between $3.39 and $3.69 here for six months. If it went down to $3.39 and KEPT dropping it may be believable but give it 3 weeks and it will go back up.

Update on yesterday’s post about painting the table. This sherwin Williams paint (emerald urethane) May be the hands down worst paint I’ve ever worked with in my life. It dries as fast as you’re painting it, it doesn’t matter what you put it on with you’re going to end up with streaks. Awful.

We took three boxes of bedding and clothing to our local @refugees.org location and folks, they NEED our help. Their entire system has been turned upside down by this regime and if you are in Erie (or any area served by USCRI) they can use donations, financial aid, etc.

Primer was BIN original shellac. It is a crucial step when painting these cheaper fake wood pieces.

Paint is Sherwin Williams Emerald Urethane which is self leveling and has the poly built in so it is good for furniture.

It’s been a process but the table was cheap and yet oddly heavy, solid and well built. Just put the first coat of the new paint over the old “white” and I suspect I’m going to really love it.

It looked white-ish but as soon as I put it in my dining area next to my white hutch I realized it was kind of a greenish yellowish gray. So now I need to get more paint to match the hutch and paint the legs and apron to match.

I ordered a cheap table online. Figured if it was damaged I would return it. Of course it was damaged but not hugely. But I still hated the top. Got paint to match the legs to refinish the top. That paint matched the legs but it wasn’t until it was on the table that I realized it wasn’t white.

No one will ever love me the way Mabel does. Which is way way too much.

Under a normal governmental administration I’d consider pushing for this. But this one is probably promoting this garbage.
