The thing I stress most often as a draft analyst is that the NFL Draft is a marketplace. Nothing more, nothing less, and must be viewed holistically as just a part of the offseason scouting and roster-building strategy. The dynamics of the draft aren't talent-based as much as they are economic. 📈

There's a tendency among NFL Draft media to move guys up because you can't have no one in the first round. These teams have to pick someone, and good luck trading those picks in a soft talent pool market! The potential draft positioning Day 1 doesn't mean that player has earned a 1st Rd grade.

Just don't find Spencer Fano dimensions engaging. He's high cut & the arm length is not there for what you'd expect out of that frame. He gets smoked by power + is not working out of any pro style offense. He's an early candidate for this year's Most Overrated Prospects List. Top 10? NOPE! #NFLDraft

Scouts often fall for tropes as they've got a lot on their plates and there's a drive for engaging draft content. I think this year's poster child for jumping to conclusions is Spencer Fano, OT from Utah. It's like someone went over a roster and declared, "Yep, there's our 2026 island kid from Utah"
