I WANT PEOPLE TO BELIEVE ME THE FIRST TIME.

Believe my pain without proof.
Believe my limits without debate.
Believe my symptoms without questioning my strength.
I shouldn’t have to defend what my body feels.
Trusting me is support — doubting me is harm.
Being believed shouldn’t feel like a luxury.

🦶 In My Shoes: Imagine opening up about something vulnerable — only to be met with skepticism or comparison — and having to convince people that what you feel is real while you’re already fighting it in silence.

Strongly encourage all academics, novelists, reporters, bloggers, whatever to just email this account and state that you want to opt out of this idiocy.

Overload them with emails and make them regret they ever tried this shit.

To the women who are labeled...

Aggressive: Keep being assertive
Bossy: Keep on leading
Difficult: Keep telling the truth
Too Much: Keep taking up space
Complicated: Keep asking hard questions

This International Women’s Day and every day, let's celebrate all the women and girls who refuse to be compartmentalized, ignored, or made anything 'less than.'

We can begin with these Powerful Women Starter Packs: go.bsky.app/PxvSjV9 and go.bsky.app/F9RVWsx.

It's World Book Day.

Thank you to everyone who ever bought or read a book of mine, even if you hated it.

If you've never read a book of mine, but you've read A book, thank you too. A rising tide raises all ships. You're still enabling me 😁

The most important thing is: read more books!

A cappuccino in a white porcelain cup, a gift cookie placed on the saucer, a glass of water with a down-turned spoon. All served on an oval black tray, placed on a book:
Mai Mochizuki, The Full Moon Coffee Shop
"“Mochizuki dazzles in her beautifully crafted contemporary fantasy debut. . . . This gentle fantasy is not to be missed.”—Publishers Weekly, starred review (Best Books of the Year)

In Japan, cats are a symbol of good luck. As the myth goes, if you are kind to them, they’ll one day return the favor. And if you are kind to the right cat, you might just find yourself invited to a mysterious coffee shop under a glittering Kyoto moon.

This particular coffee shop is like no other. It has no fixed location, no fixed hours, and it seemingly appears at random.

It’s also run by talking cats."

The idea's out there today that the job of an op-ed page is to publish pieces making the case for (as well as against) every topic or proposal that's in the news, "even if the policy is bad." This may seem reasonable and it's a thing I struggled with when I was an op-ed editor, so I have thoughts. +
