22.11.2025 22:34 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Grand Mausoleum miniature (and some fences)
The Mausoleum definitely has been key in making that kind of terrain for me. Some I used as is. Some I added additional basing. And in one case because I has stuff spare, I stuck several together to make a single grand Mausoleum!
22.11.2025 02:46 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0My collection of GW trees
The tree is one of the old GW ones from times past. You used to get 3 to a plastic terrain plate with optional foliage.
The core trees were great. The foliage came off if you looked at it funny.
Old GW forest plate with mausoleum bits added in place of some trees.
I need to make more little terrain set pieces like this.
I often get so bogged down in utility pieces I forget the evocative shit.
#WarhammerCommunity
By and large I think it does. But my own experience has been that the more that aura is around a game, the more it also attracts a certain type of player who exploits it.
Every FLGS has them.
My 'friendly, soft intro' to AoS was done by a guy who played a monster hero with a 2 up save re-rolling 1s.
Close up on the leader of the unmade
My 'Unmade' warband.
I suppose that's what early release 'Warcry' was with its boxed set of play as they come warbands.
And probably part of the reason I enjoyed the experience of it so much more, even when playing in a league vs people I didn't know.
Dalaque gang straight from the box + 1 late league heavy flamer addition
Other games have this issue also.
I've had leagues of Necromunda turn sour because a single player min maxed while everyone else went for flavor or what came in a basic box.
I'd love if GW included like a sub version of their games built around less exploitable shit for non ultra competitive play.
My much abused goblin team.
If you are in it for the casual silly, and you set up a match for your Tier 4 goblins vs someone who professed to be the same...
and they show up with Tier 1 Chaos Dwarves with 2 bull centaurs and all the texbook effective skills... You are not going to have fun.
My shambling undead team. Never played.
My Chaos Chosen. Played a league with them and ranked firmly middle.
I enjoy a game of blood bowl. Its a fun, silly, compact game and a team can be one of the cheapest thing GW sells.
But like a lot of GW games (maybe even more so), you have to find someone approaching it in the same spirit as you, or you'll have a bad time.
It attracts a lot of 'that guy' players.
Games Workshop. Makers of Warhammer.

In #Baldur'sGate3 I always found it funny that Astarion has expertise in Slight of Hand, a skill mainly used for picking locks, with a side line on picking pockets.
He is after all a Vampire. Pick all the door locks you like, you ain't getting in without an invite.
To proclaim love for something, but hitch your wagon to idea of it failing due to changes that are 'woke'.
You've lost either way, because you're so culture war poisoned you can't have fun with it anymore, and because for you to 'win', the thing you love has to die.
Fair.
I'm obsessed with human psychology and constantly bewildered by this kind of performance.
The lengths some folk will go to, all to assure themselves that 1+1=4 actually.
Once again GW have posted remarkable profits.
Once again the 'real fans'π who were boycotting over 'woke' have shown themselves irrelevant to the equation.
Once again the grifters are peddling cope: "In x years it will happen, trust me"
Once again I post this knowing the circus never leaves town.
I've been assured that it will happen at some vague point far enough in the future, that they can still pretend they are speaking truth, without the fear of a inconvenient deadline showing they are full of shit.

20.11.2025 12:20 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Its simply racism. But they know that is an unpopular sell so they latch onto anything they think they can hide the racism behind and play act like it was not their motivation.
And only that kind of racist is stupid enough to think this works and fools anyone.
They are too busy being lore defenders to actually read the book.
19.11.2025 08:03 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Usual insipid hobby discourse kicks off because a character on in a 40k novel is black.
"Its not because I'm racist!
Its against the lore!
The lore I'm getting wrong because I'm parroting other racists who also didn't read the previous book. I really thought I had a smoke screen for my racism"
Good timing.

And yes, unlike 99% of the 'lore defenders' who are wrong about this, I have read the previous novel where all this stuff is explained and the characters established. Bottom right of this picture.
18.11.2025 23:37 β π 17 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Cover for the presumably next Alpha Legion novel was leaked.
It has a 2 pre established characters on the cover.
An Alpha Legion Space marine who is black (Solomon Akurra)
A Sorceress who has a half shaved head *gasp* (Tulava Dyne)
This is enraging the usual hate mob.
They are hiding racism behind the idea that Alpha legion alter themselves to look like their primarach (bald white guy). So black guy is against lore!
This however is addressed in the previous book as a thing only sub factions of the legion are continuing to do and the rest find it a bit cringe.
Bonus points for the ones then using badly parroted AAVE in a derogatory way to show just how much they are lore defenders and not racists. π₯΄

As is, it looks good, only limited by the sculpt itself.
Mock up with a stipple of thornwood esk colour breaking up the more stark lines.
I honesty think it looks fine, and only really looks a bit odd when you full screen the photo and thus are closer then you would ever be.
That said. If you wanted to you could make maybe it a little less stark by stipple sponging a little thornwood back on top. But less rather then more. /2c
