Here is our open letter to the new NRW Chair asking him what he will do to reverse the decline in nature. He says his priority is to ‘position NRW as a national leader in nature recovery’.
We want to hold him and NRW to those words.

Lovely morning spent with Porthkerry Wildlife Group at Porthkerry Country Park, Barry. A personal highlight was seeing this Red-girdled Mining Bee (Andrena labiata) - a species I rarely see in Wales!

Trapping under old oaks. We were optimistically hoping for Marbled Pug, last recorded here in 1880, but that remained just a dream.

27 species at Porthkerry last night under the gaze of a huge moon. Lovely spring goodies including Mocha, Scorched Carpet, Purple Thorn, Waved Umber, Maiden's Blush, Water Carpet & a surprise Rusty-dot Pearl.

The temperature dropped quickly under clear skies - home before midnight.

Join us as we create a new wildflower margin using locally harvested native wildflower seed and native plug plants at Windmill Lane Playing Fields.

Great morning looking at Lichens plus fungi and plants at PorthkerryCP today. How many Lichen species on this bench!

A couple of Porthkerry Adders have appeared, on their usual date of 22nd Feb.

A walk down to Porthkerry Country Park this morning. What a fab day! Saw Red Admiral and Bumblebee an early Common Carder. A couple of Scarlet Elfcups still about. Cherry Plum (Prunus cerasfera) one of our earliest blossom trees. Our pollinating insects will be pleased to see it.

A good but chilly Amhibian Night at Porthkerry Country Park. Toad numbers down a bit maybe some still to arrive. Frogs 53 and Toads 35. Thanks to Richard Bluck and Stephen Passey for pics @arc-trust.bsky.social
