I would like for someone to ask: “Then why didn’t Congress act and declare war against Iran as provided for in Article I of the Constitution?”

Even putting aside the implications for the laws of war, someone who describes mass killing in this way is not well, nor is the society that empowers that person to kill.

Since early September, the United States has killed at least 150 people in 44 known strikes against boats in the Caribbean and Eastern Pacific that the Trump administration has said, without providing evidence, are carrying drugs. Legal specialists on the use of lethal force have said the strikes are illegal, extrajudicial killings, because the military cannot deliberately target civilians who do not pose an imminent threat of violence, even if they are suspected of engaging in criminal acts.

I am amazed at how we don't even talk about our country's extrajudicial killings unless it is embedded in stories about yet another military operation.

I don't believe there has been a definitive finding about what occurred. Neither the LAPD nor ICE has been clear and there are conflicting reports and no video evidence. Regardless, an ICE officer killed Keith Porter. There is no dispute about that.

I remember taking a gender studies course in college and reading a book called "Choice of Heroes" about the limited roles men had available to them. Growing up when I did, I only thought of men as privileged with choices that I didn't have.
