Just a reminder that Muslims have been on this continent since the first arrival of non-Indigenous people. They were among the first generation of Americans, and have been here ever since.
Facing constitutional headwinds, the strategy pivoted. If they could not legislate the curriculum, they would capture the institutions...partisan loyalists to boards of trustees and threatened budget vetoes to infiltrate colleges and universities.

NEWS: U.S. death toll in the Iran War rises to 7
They can't miss. They are shooting 60% and I have to believe it is even better beyond the arc.
They look good as an WNBA team!
Thank you! And also the work of @acls1919.bsky.social, @modernlanguage.bsky.social, & @historians.org whose lawsuit helped bring all this into the open mailchi.mp/0d18151b653d...
I want to elevate the work of those who identified and reported on these issues earlier than NYT. @techdirt.com

Behold: the first-ever list of news outlets that have banned generative AI in their reporting. As of today, this is literally information that you cannot find on Google.
My goal is to fill the starter pack, so please send over suggestions with supporting evidence!

Dear Media:
The President can NOMINATE whoever he wants to Secretary of DHS.
He does not have unilateral appointment power.
In short, Markwayne Mullin has been nominated to the be the next Secretary.
Vaguely recall that a paroled inmate committing a terrible crime was enough of a scandal to undercut the Dukakis campaign. This is objectively worse in term of Trump's responsibility, but will get a fraction of the attention.

Now that Republicans have done Trump's bidding by blocking limits on his war powers, remember that in doing this, they are also relieving *themselves* of the obligation to vote on the enormously consequential decision of whether to go to war. Craven abdication.

So let me see if I get this.
Trump issues tariffs which the US importer must pay and then those importers pass that cost on to me, a US taxpayer. In short, a tax on me.
SCOUTS declares the tarrif illegal and now me, the US taxpayer, is going to refund the importer the tariff plus interest.
🤔
I would like for someone to ask: “Then why didn’t Congress act and declare war against Iran as provided for in Article I of the Constitution?”
Even putting aside the implications for the laws of war, someone who describes mass killing in this way is not well, nor is the society that empowers that person to kill.
I am amazed at how we don't even talk about our country's extrajudicial killings unless it is embedded in stories about yet another military operation.

The first confirmed fatalities in Trump's illegal War on Iran:
Captain Cody A. Khork, 35, of Winter Haven, FA
Sergeant First Class Noah L. Tietjens, 42, of Bellevue, NE
Sergeant First Class Nicole M. Amor, 39, of White Bear Lake, MN
Sergeant Declan J. Coady, 20, of West Des Moines, IA
I don't believe there has been a definitive finding about what occurred. Neither the LAPD nor ICE has been clear and there are conflicting reports and no video evidence. Regardless, an ICE officer killed Keith Porter. There is no dispute about that.

For years on my old blog I published the names of servicemembers who died in Iraq & Afghanistan. No other outlets were.
These are the first 4 Americans to die in the Iran War.
Capt. Cody A. Khork, 35
Sgt. 1st Class Noah L. Tietjens, 42
Sgt. 1st Class Nicole M. Amor, 39
Sgt. Declan J. Coady, 20

There are at least 4 dead Americans under her leadership. In addition to Good and Pretti, Ruben Ray Martinez (March 15, 2025) and Keith Porter (December 31, 2025) were both killed.
I think about this Tony Benn speech much more than I used to
tomorrow is with one of the biggest election days of the year. there's so much to go over it's hard to know where to start.
so, let me help:
here are the *10* elections i'm watching the most closely, *at the state and local level* (=no federal elections included!)
🧵:
Listen this is some next level trolling.
It’s not just that Charlie Kirk is up there. It’s who he’s with.
Catherine Beecher, while an advocate for women’s education, also fiercely opposed women’s suffrage and wanted women’s political power to be mostly constrained to their role as mothers.

My elementary school coach called me “Suitcase” because I traveled so much. 😊
As we kick off Women's History Month, Donald Trump is hell-bent on eroding the advancements that generations of women have made.
We're making it clear to the President that we won't go back in time in Illinois — we're fighting for a future that moves us forward.
Iran is an evil regime and deserves to fall. But that's not a good argument for launching a war of regime change without Congress and against the will of the American people.
Quiz: Is the @nytopinion.nytimes.com Editorial Board describing Iran or the United States?
"It oppresses women, L.G.B.T.Q. people and religious minorities. Its leaders have impoverished their own citizens while corruptly enriching themselves."
