80,000 people is just a number that makes my stomach clench thinking about it

$1.65M per day in DC alone. That’s approximately two NIH R01 Grant *years* burned per day. Ninety *five year* R01s projects burned in the last seven months with no end in sight.

Instead of lasting scientific advance we get….what?
Civil rights violations and authoritarian replacement of democracy.

100% with you on this. If we already know in advance how things will turn out, why do research? Nothing fun about always confirming your priors.

This is one reason why I encourage students to always test multiple competing hypotheses. Seriously considering alternative possibilities reduces confirmation bias, is a more efficient use of resources, and increases odds of finding something and believing it.

Psychology needs a… heterogeneity revolution | BPS Audrey Linden argues we should drop the assumption that interventions will have a single, underlying effect size.

A Heterogeneity Revolution in Psychology

"When studies that may appear similar are repeated, findings often vary more than we would expect due to sampling error. This is not necessarily a problem if we understand why this happens."

Hi all, there are a lot of things to be said about the chaos, kidnapping and murder, that is happening in the state I live in right now. I want to highlight some things I have personally seen in the last month or so out on the streets in Minneapolis.

Why the Resistance Matters

Anti-authoritarian β€œneighborism” and cross-racial solidarity from below are a massive problem for the regime, exposing Trumpism’s structural weaknesses and ideological blind spots.

Rep. Jason Crow (D-CO) reacted to Trump personal attorney-turned Deputy AG Todd Blanche discussing the DOJ's intention to appeal the judges decision releasing Liam Ramos.

"Why is the Trump Administration fighting harder to arrest 5-year-old children than pedophiles in the Epstein files?" he posted

Prosecutors Began Investigating Renee Good’s Killing. Washington Told Them to Stop.

You should read this. It is the type of detail that experts in authoritarian regimes see as telling.
In this case, state agents are offered impunity from higher ups, and the legal system is rendered inoperative as a mode of accountability.

Today seems like a nice day to re-up @leahchristiani.bsky.social 's excellent research on when white people approve of blatantly racist political messages. Not sure what made me think of it today, but anyway.

Reviewing video from Fulton County elections raid.

Taken aback by the dismissive & sneering attitude from FBI agents toward the cop politely asking to see the warrant.

Looked him up: He's an immigrant w/ a doctorate in philosophy. His thesis? "Force by police officers toward African Americans."
