Yes!
This is the end times and weāre not dying quickly enough
Had a little cry because my library is doing a āreading for pizzaā challenge like we used to do in school and theyāve put up 90s themed decorations to advertise it. I know itās cliche to miss the 90s and Iām sure it wasnāt a perfect time but take me back there right now I am SICK of this timeline
Which is of course the āresponseā to the fist outrage, now with people outraged that too many people who had opinions about his comment arenāt even fans of ballet or opera. Which will then lead to another response. There is very little real conversation about anything anymore. Just this shit.
Yes, rage moves content faster and more effectively than anything else, so of course the outrage cycles are what they are. Everybody wants their viral moment so they all chime in to say the same thing. The next phase of this particular situation is already starting and that will be its own cycle ->
But in the end I walked away from it feeling like the pointlessness had no purpose. When it could have. And the soundtrack threw me off. Comparing the vapid self-importance of the movie and folks involved with it to the actual outcome was the final nail for me. Itās a nothing burger in a fancy box.
I say this as someone who wants there to be more strange and absurd movies. But this movie was empty in a way that doesnāt feel like the emptiness was serving the story. The entire third act was justā¦I have no idea wtf. Pointless. I did enjoy the pacing, and performances were solid. ->
Same š I was very much resigned to just not liking it but Iām pleasantly surprised
Iām so glad that this album is so damn good. I love him and I was afraid it wouldnāt be š
The starās (such as he is) ignorant comments about art forms that have sustained for centuries have no bearing on the quality of the movie. That honor belongs to the people who made it. There was nothing interesting or groundbreaking about the story they thought they were telling.
No, I hated Marty Supreme because Iām not interested in a movie about a narcissistic ping pong player no matter how much billionaire money is thrown into marketing it by the same people who spent the last year trying to push the story that Sinners wasnāt remarkable. It was at best predictable.
A bunch of racist, homophobic, biphobic, cynical, unhinged, disgusting people calling themselves fans of a show thats about love in all its sincerity. It is honestly so embarassing to even identify with the heated rivalry fandom at this point.
You want to ādress like JFK Jr.ā? Go look up photos of Black men in the 90s. Go look at what Denzel was putting on. Youāll quickly see where his āoriginal styleā actually came from. Donāt piss me off.
These people are so exhausting
š
Which maybe sounds hyperbolic but a good way to control people is to first isolate them so they canāt exchange ideas and witness differing points of view IN REAL LIFE. And I say all this as someone who often travels and is alone. But I also regularly put intentional effort into being with people.
We need community and trying to find it in our lives is worth the effort. Itās more meaningful than highly edited glimpses into isolated routines set to soothing sounds that imply we can all be islands. Existing completely alone with no social connection makes us more vulnerable to fascism. ->
But I think the proliferation of this type of ālifestyle influencingā is particularly harmful to impressionable viewers who may not understand that existing entirely alone at all times is very hard to sustain and can be quite difficult on a personās psyche. We are social creatures. ->
This is maybe a boomer opinion but I think we should be very weary of the content created by āI live alone and I have no friendsā influencers. Itās not aspirational to exist entirely alone, all the time. Itās not wrong or bad to be alone or lonely; thatās often not in the personās direct control. ->
YES
I hope you realize what you sound like when you refer to Connor as āthe breakout starā of heated rivalry but refer to Hudson as āthe co-star.ā
They canāt resist becoming victims. Itās their favorite state of being š
Why am I not surprised youād say this š
Yessssss we will
Maturity is realizing that maybe the problem was in the execution, not the plan itself.
Happy international womenās day to Akasha. Who, letās face it, was probably right all along.
The live arts will never die. Art like ballet and opera have been here for centuries. Long after movies become an unbearable cesspool of AI-generated garbage, there will be humans on stage creating and expressing art through their bodies. With all due respect to Mr. Chalamet (which is none).
Oh dear
