The similarities between events in the US and those near the end of the Weimar Republic are quite alarming. There is a rise in ultranationalism, the presence of a cult-like political party, attacking the press and constant propaganda targeting various 'other' groups.

One of the nuisances of the current AI scene is that it makes it difficult to figure out what might have a lasting value in the near future. At least in academia.

I first thought it was a quote from WW II vet after the second Trump election.

Joking aside, I think human communication will be drastically changed by AI and LLMs.

I have used all the "RIP" LLMs for production-level coding, and they have all failed badly in almost every aspect of SWE (except documentation). Increasing context didn't help either.

It’s as if the US is being put into a fractional distillation tower. Every attempt at integration, mobility and inclusion is being undone and each layer is being purified and separated from every other and being put in its ‘proper’ place.

The body politic in the US is full of vindictive people who rather bring down everything than see the other side gaining a millet.

I believe that companies replacing human workers with AI agents should pay a significant portion of that employee’s salary in taxes. The government can then use this revenue to address the disruptive impacts of AI agents on the job market.

What about spamagedon?

I think most tech users these days have traded privacy for convenience. Why does prompt surveillance pose a specific threat? Do plans get revealed?
