Taxes completed. I think I'm just going to sit on the refund. Honestly, I'm a little surprised I even got a refund due to being unemployed for a little over two months and not having them take out taxes.

I would forewarn you about eating a "healthy" amount of a bag of those. Doing so could make one have a good scare during their morning constitutional, all thanks to the dye used with the spices.

You have just given me the desire to listen to them at work tomorrow.

I just had a bit of longing hit where a memory of my old blog randomly popped in my head. I don't think it was so much the act of blogging that I miss (actually, I do kind of miss that...), but the community that was built up around it and the people met through there.

Hackers is such a fun yet horribly ridiculous film. And while some of the techniques they use are based on truth, many of them are just hyped up CGI for entertainment value.

But to thank her for all the little things she did. Taking the time to chat and listen to someone that didn't have a clue. Giving me opportunities to be challenged. Helping me feel like I belonged. And giving me the tools to not only be someone else, but have the strength to be myself.

But I look at my college years, and of those folks that taught me as I was becoming an adult, Jewell was one of two professors that left an impression on me. One strong enough where I felt the need to pay my respects to her. To thank her not just for the lessons she taught me in class.

I had three teachers from high school who made an impression on me, and of them, I kept in touch with one. She passed away several years ago. The second one passed in 2017. The third one is still around as far as I know.

One comment that one of the folks made was that he could count on one finger the number of instructors he'd had in his educational career that he'd go to their funeral/memorial service. And that is was this professor.

It was a bit of a sobering comment, and it gave me thoughts.

Had an afternoon saying goodbye to a former professor who was also an old friend. I also got to reconnect with a number of folks that I hadn't seen in decades, reintroduce myself to friends that didn't remember me (age and time apart does that), and make new friends.

Agreed. The last decade has done a toll on a number of us, and the quarantining of COVID really fucked up our ability to be social. We're still recovering from that and it makes the gatherings difficult at best.

Plus I don't have a place to host, lol.

Huh, I thought their first one was to be the one in DeForest. Guess that got delayed.

Today was one of those days where I just couldn't deal, but I struggled through anyway. Sadly, it feels like that's going to be the norm for some time, and that shit builds up quick. And you can only struggle for so long before you either snap or break.

Agreed. I get the feeling I'm going to be increasing my coping mechanisms in the next few months while looking into the best way to fight back. Hell, it might even mean running for office, just so I can break it down from the inside.

Anion gaps dropping means that you're not as able to create ion blasts. Time to look for alternative attack means.

But for the serious response... Hopefully it's nothing to worry about and just due to a prior illness throwing the labs off.

She hopes that the media face is just an act, playing the politics game, while the Vance she knew is still there as his real personality. Sadly, I think she's going to be disappointed and see that the Vance she knew is long gone, with the public side being who he really is now.

A friend of mine is attending the inauguration tomorrow, invited by Vance because they'd served together in the military and were friends. They grew apart after the military and her divorce from her ex, but reconnected after his nomination. She hoping to get a chance to talk with him.
