While a Franklin County court has temporarily blocked the state from using $1 billion in unclaimed funds for a new Cleveland Browns stadium and other projects, critics of the move are struggling to win a similar ruling in federal court.

A Franklin County magistrate’s hold on the use of state unclaimed funds for Ohio sports facilities while a civil lawsuit plays out likely won’t interrupt work toward completion of the Browns’ new stadium in Brook Park.

On Tuesday evening, Andrew Berry was putting the finishing touches on finalizing a two-year deal worth $24 million for former Packers center Elgton Jenkins, 30, who made the Pro Bowl as a guard in 2020 and 2022.
Pluto: "We’ll see how the moves work out. Berry needs another excellent draft if the Browns are to become more watchable in 2026. But these moves are heading the team in that direction."
Terry Pluto: "The Browns still need more linemen. Having 10 picks in the upcoming draft can fill some of the openings. They are off to a good start in terms of rebuilding the offensive line."

The Browns are kicking off their Top 30 NFL Draft visits Thursday with some of the biggest offensive names in the class, including Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson and Ohio State wide receiver Carnell Tate.
The Browns have a new defensive coordinator. His name is Mike Rutenberg. And if his introductory press conference in Berea is any indication of what’s coming, the NFL had better pay attention.
But the publicly owned landlord -- already facing $150M+ in projected repairs -- won’t see a dime in new revenue from the deal.
Cleveland Browns star defensive end Myles Garrett was ticketed for speeding last month, making it at least the ninth time he has been cited for driving too fast in Ohio after being drafted by the Browns in 2017.
Mike Rutenberg’s message as Browns DC:
Build relationships. Lead with your heart. Play violent, attacking football.
