Had one of those moments this afternoon where a totally different class to the one I’d prepared for turned up. It’s Week B and not Week A. Totally my fault.
Classic parents evening timetable for me now.
- Solid cluster of appointments 5:00 - 6:30
- Massive gap
- 2 appointments at 7:45 and 7:55
Monday is honestly never that bad once you're actually doing Monday. The thought of Monday is worse than the thing itself. Yet another reason the Sunday night blues are ridiculous.
Interviewing for a new head of art tomorrow. When I interview, I always think I feel more nervous for the candidates, than the candidates actually do themselves 😬
Occupational hazard of being in music ed = being fairly fed up with Christmas music before the end of October 😖
Why are so many colleagues unable to keep to the 10 minute appointments at parents evening? It causes all of us to run late and makes the evening longer than it already is. If you need to talk for longer, arrange another meeting or a telephone follow up... 🤬
The stench of Lynx Africa in my Year 11 class this afternoon was overpowering. Those lads must have big weekend plans 😬😂
Open Evening tonight, and it's amazing how the little jobs you've been asking to have sorted for the past few months suddenly get done. My broken blind and missing ceiling tile have finally both been dealt with this morning!
Let's just say, 3 back to back classes of Year 9, on the same day as a full moon, lived up to expectations.
Some of those coffee cups in the staff room have their own eco-system 🤢
That’s the engagement I’ve been lacking on this platform. You’re a star
The guy who comes into my department and does beginner trombones before school every Wednesday deserves a pay rise. No idea how he puts up with that at 8am, it's bad enough 2 rooms away 🙉
Head of Art told me today that he's retiring at Xmas. Knew it was coming but had hoped for another year or 2.
Gutted. As well as being a superb teacher, he's someone I always ran ideas past. Never a "yes man" & never shy to give me constructive criticism. I'll really miss him.
School in the morning on what feels like the 63rd of September
Manon Gropius (who the work was written for) was the daughter of Gustav Mahler’s widow - the father was Walter Gropius.
The death alluded to above was Maria Mahler (died age 4)
I considered a few candidates for the punchline, but Paul got the gig
That’s no way to talk about Mr Cornish
Because I get no notifications on here (due to getting practically zero engagement), I just forget about it. Must try and get in the habit of duplicating my posts on here (so I can enjoy higher volumes of zero engagement 🤣)
How is it possible for so many Year 7s to lose so many items of PE kit and school ties in the first 3 weeks of term? There should be some research done on this.
Looks like you duplicate your tweets on here. Have you found a way to synch your accounts to automatically do that, or is it just a manual cut and paste?
I’ve got to post more regularly here to get some traction I feel
I know, was just being silly.
Must say, I forgot I followed you over here. Logged in for the first time in months and it’s like a ghost town. Was glad to see someone familiar though!
That’s a challenge I can certainly meet
Thought maybe it’d be a time for rejoicing. We have some electric drum kits at school that kids practice with headphones. They’re a godsend
So "dunky" then
3 wedding gigs this weekend with my quartet, 2 of them outdoor ceremonies. I hope the weather behaves... ⛈️😬
Found out I won’t have a tutor group next academic year (middle leaders are given a “year off” in rotation at our school).
I’ve never not had a TG. Whilst the extra time will be lovely, I think I’ll miss it - will certainly feel strange for sure…
Those invisible walls are impenetrable
Better set my alarm clock for the morning (although it’s a given I’ll be awake at least an hour before it goes off).
Wishing all edu colleagues a great Summer Term 2 💪☺️
Is Count Dookus from Uranus?
