Switched to an eclectic group of #diecast instead of hot rods for the Inferno group off the #Gaslands Death Race Demo. The hot rods didn't feel right with my UniMOG team. These giveaway cars aren't directly related to my #GRL teams, but I like then to rhyme.

And this is the "car" half of the Tryout Team. Wait 'til you see the "buggy" half in tomorrow daily #diecast

Today's #diecast #DeskCar is the Hot Wheels '57 Jeep FC (2024 HW Hot Trucks). After multiple tries at making an Unimog Tryout Team, I gave up. I don't have Unimogs that fit the car and buggy build. So, I decided to use utility trucks intead.

I am tempted to get side tracked and work on the other two cars I've designated for the Mishkin team. I enjoyed these builds.
I want to do more than paintovers and gluing a single weapon on these giveaway cars. Just because I'm not keeping them, doesn't mean that I don't want them then to be good.

Barcode identifier plates clipped from cardboard packaging and glued to the vehicle rear
I think my favorite bit is the last minute addition of barcode identifiers to the rear of the drones. I'll need to fix them up a bit, to get them looking better integrated. But, I think they're cool

The Mishkin Group runs engineering trials where systems are tested to verify functionality, performance, and quality, often involving iterative refinement to fix issues and optimize solutions, ensuring the final product works reliably in real-world conditions.

Finally, I'll clean the car with isopropyl alcohol to remove any grease from my handling of the metal body. Warm the rattle can in some hot water and then spray prime.
Given the weathering, rusting and dusting, this probably isn't needed, but the factory paint can be difficult to paint over.

Wash off the paint and the stripper with warm soapy water. I examine the metal and see if I need to sand and polish it. I don't normally because I use opaque paints. But, if you were going to use clear paints, then you'll want to sand out defects and give it a polish.

If I strip the paint, then I disassemble the car and separate the plastic from the metal. I use Citrastrip (a.co/d/06TA77vA) to remove the paint from the metal body. Just drop the car into a glass container and cover with Citrastrip for about an hour. Then clean off the car with a toothbrush.

Aww, I don't know about expert, but I appreciate the compliment.
Whether or not I strip the paint before priming depends if it looks like details on the #casting are obscured by the thick factory paint.
If not, then I'll prime directly over the car as-is, don't even take it apart.

That looks like a Corvette Grand Sport. And it looks frickin' fabulous. I especially like the chained down weapon.
Would love a shot of the rear, if you could. Can't quite make out what's going on the back there.

Feeling the pressure to have new cars done for the #Gaslands Death Race Demo this Sunday. One Mishkin drone is done, the other needs detailing and weathering. I can cut a straighter than freehand So all the orange bits are cut from plasticard now.
The second car is giving me Science Friction vibes.

Really didn't feel like using the brush on light gray primer again. So I warmed up the rattle can and took advantage of a break in the weather to spray prime. It's a darker grey, but will work.
On deck is the Maxxine cars primed in gloss white. Gonna try a retro animation style

So, uh...I may have interpreted "cyberpunk" as gluing random bits of plasticard and offcuts, plus rivets.

Okay, I don't need to establish my Ork bonafides, but I do know what "krumpin" means, even if all I've ever collected were Eldar and Imperial Army.
That being said.
Is it so wrong that I immediately thought of a mobile dance floor instead?

Today's #diecast #DeskCar is the Hot Wheels '70 Dodge Charger (2017 Experimotors). Originally released as part of the Fast and the Furious line, it will be the car for Snake-Eyes. I just need to apply a matte varnish to dull down the shine. Paint over the red chrome rims and slap on some some guns.

Not for nothing, my friend, but you're building a modular kit that would put most model kits on the market to shame.

A little over 50 cars were in the order from Poshmark. A pretty good deal as I like most of these cars and while I did have some of these castings, I only had a few true duplicates.
The Matchbox Rolls Royce Silver Shadow II has opening front doors
The Burnin' Key Car Nissan 300ZX. It's pretty beat up and there's damage to the front end
The Matchbox Poop king does not have its porta-potties cargo
Over 50 #diecast cars from the mail call. Most of them were from the last 20 years. The oldest one is a Matchbox Rolls Royce Silver Shadow II (1983). The most interesting one is a Matchbox Burnin' Key Car Nissan 300Z. And the most disappointing one is the Poop King, it didn't have the port-a-potties

I've got a pile of #diecast to go through. It's my order from Poshmark. But, I deliberately held off so that I don't get distracted from the work i need to do.
Started on the 2nd drone for the Mishkin team. Took quite a bit of time for me to figure out the armor housing for the camera and weapon.

@lionofflanders.bsky.social - I think this weapon maintains the low profile and sleek silhouette of the cyberpunk vehicle. Keeping the shoulder stock is a little weird, but it helps with the mounting.
I cleaned up the freehand with a marker, I can draw a bit straighter that way

Today's #diecast #DeskCar is the Hot Wheels'70 Chevelle SS (2012 HW Racing). First off, I am really digging the Team Hot Wheels livery. This will be the car for Scarlett and the loadout will have to include a harpoon as the crossbow from her original 1982 release.

That's kinda where I'm leaning, brother. Just gotta think through how this will look on the other vehicles for this team and consider using a bit that will look like an integrated weapon.
Thanks, I always appreciate your opinion

Almost done with the painting. Not great freehand, might replace them with painted plasticard bits. Also, the side vents being black is distracting.
Biggest block is mounted weapon or not? I like the profile of the car without the big gun.

Snow outside means brush on primer.
Trying out new builds with #Gaslands giveaway cars has less pressure to get it just right. I'm more relaxed and less critical. I don't get as frustrated.
I'm also willing to let things go, like open gaps. I'll perfect those things when I do my personal builds.
