We had used LocalStorage in UniDeck and as much as I love the simplicity of it, our user data grew way too fast and we had no option other than switching to IndexedDB. If it wasn't for idb I have no idea how we would have managed migrating.

Any ideas on how to do migrations properly?

For the past few years I tried solving advent of code for at least a couple of weeks but this year I was busy building UniDeck and now am anxious for some reason for not solving it. I miss the engineer elves...

Bots deserve love too.

Even with Bun's architecture, this is a precedence I thought we were over with. This makes the runtime feel like another dependency. A gigantic one I can't easily replace or freeze. It could have easily been a Bun supported library.

Third-party api should be in it's own library shouldn't it? What happens if s3 updates it's api and I want that change because I have to, and need to rely on specific version of something else in the standard library because I have no time to update? This seems like a very weird design choice.

Our goal is to create an easily integratable dashboard that's easily accessible to everyone. With easy to use drag and drop features along with advanced widgets that can combine information from multiple providers in a glancable solution.

Currently UniDeck is in its MVP phase and we're working on creating a nice productivity suite by adding more widgets from more platforms.

It started with wanting a performant drag and drop page designer. We started to hack something together with react and decided it was also useful for creating dashboards for our projects.

We added Trello, Github and Google integrations for what we needed and are planning on adding more.

Our team at Ainur started working on a no-code dashboard designer tool a few weeks ago which grew to its own product. We are excited to share it with early adopters and looking for feedback.

Made me fall in love with React again. I used to hate opinionated components but with Shadcn I can have the functionality I'm looking for and very easily change it's looks. It used to be that you needed to look everywhere to find a customizable date picker!

Lately I've been using Shadcn's ui library everywhere. And I mean everywhere! The components are perfectly written (hats off to Radix and every other dependency) and the fact that you can edit them and override css variables for the theme makes it phenomenal!

Also the structure allows for any component to be added, along with any layout that's needed. It still needs a lot more features before being released but it was quite a fun project to tackle.

The visual editor seemed the most challenging so I started there. Using React-DND and some nifty tricks the editor is quite fast and we are able to store the structure in a database so user can have multiple profiles and easily access them.

Some stuff that I was looking around for and found lacking were:

- proper visual editor to change the page to my needs
- configurable widgets
- ability to add community developed widgets so I wouldn't be limited to what's already there

I decided to actually go ahead and create something along with the team at @ainurhq.bsky.social. I'll write a blog post about it when it's polished and ready to be released.
