The EHRC has sent its guidance to the Government. Now politicians need to act. As @nancymk.bsky.social writes:
"They can require the EHRC produce a code that is compliant with the Human Rights Act and the public sector equality duty." If they don't act, they are responsible for the harm."
As EHRC leaks a final draft Code of Practice to the Equality Act to the Times then delivers it to govt and attempts to wash its hands of the impact on trans people, its important to recognise and call out the shell game we're in. EHRC will say 'we're just following the Supreme Court judgement' 1/3

If anti trans campaigners were hoping to find their beliefs endorsed, the session had the opposite effect. It was a public revelation of a scandalous intervention into children's well being by ignorant politicians. (9/10)
Prof Giordano was clear that the politicising of trans healthcare had resulted in clinical experts being excluded from key decision making bodies. Whether to prescribe puberty blockers is not a job for parliament but for patients, parents and their medical advisors, she said (8/10)
It was shocking to hear Prof Butler describe the desperation of the thousands of young people and their families waiting for assessment who are now in limbo. Many of those young people are off school and ‘barely functioning’, he told MPs. (7/10)
This judgment surely undermines the whole premise of the government’s ban on blockers! (which is to suspend all treatments outside a research trial) (6/10)
puberty blockers have an overwhelmingly positive impact on the mental health of trans adolescents. Equally damning was the view of all three experts that it any ‘clinical trial’ of puberty blockers would be neither ethical nor workable. (5/10)
In the many years of their use globally there has been zero evidence that they damage fertility or brain development; New long term studies into both these aspects are soon to be published. Existing international studies and clinical evidence so far in Britain confirm that (4/10)
We learned that: puberty blockers are a safe and effective treatment for children who suffer from precocious puberty as well as adolescents questioning their gender. Fears that they damage bone density are unfounded as the bone density is restored once hormones (male or female) are restored;(3/10)
This is the first time we’ve heard Britain’s top endocrinologists and bioethicists comment publicly on last year’s Cass report which has been used by politicians to end trans healthcare for thousands of young people. (2/10)
