It's just unprecedented in the U.S. These are tactics that you'd expect from Putin, Orbán, Erdoğan and others.

All neo-fascist hybrid totalitarian regimes.

This is why independent institutions matter. Threatening criminal charges to pressure the Fed is an attack on the rule of law, plain and simple. Maybe Powell speaking out will push others—who’ve been too quiet for too long—to finally stand up for the Constitution and basic democratic norms.
