Both games prove that you can make an FPS with deep combat mechanics and enemies that are more than turrets that you play peekaboo with. Ultrakill in particular convinced me that the genre still has plenty of untapped potential. I hope to see more games like them.

Eternal I have mixed feelings on. It's more curated and less aesthetically striking than Ultrakill, and the encounter/arena design in the latter half of the base game got tedious for me. DLC1 is absolutely excellent though, really elevated my opinion of the title as a whole, so be sure to play it.

Recently I played through Ultrakill and Doom Eternal, in that order.

Ultrakill is probably one of the best games ever, go play it right now. I don't care if it's early access, just go. Every level, monster, and weapon will make you a better person for having interacted with it.

Watanare adaptation is absolutely perfect so far

First episode of Utagoe ha Mille-feuille was good despite having no production values, very strong script with Yamanaka's voice as a creator coming through loud and clear

The Caligula vibes are subdued, but definitely there if you look for them

Going from the Watanare anime to a new chapter of Sasakoi was some whiplash

I liked the first chapters of both of the new series

Excited for Watayuri restarting and Yuama's new series in the next issue

the one that requires beating a boss with every character was the most annoying since it meant I had to use Guardian

what I'm liking about Ruri no Houseki so far is that it doesn't just stop at trivia about rocks, it touches on the vastness of nature and some of the ways humans can interact with it

I also like that Ruri is cute

and that the soundtrack is that of an Atelier game

I've been working in localization off and on for 18 years as of this anime season...

and sometimes I still waste five minutes trying to figure out the best way to adapt a よろしくお願いします
