Oh trust me, I spend a lot of time parsing this stuff out so it doesn't make it to other people. I'm not really sure how, but I managed to emerge from it all a fairly balanced individual. And I was a goddamned moron when I was active duty lol
I'm fairly open about it, I don't really suffer any PTSD symptoms or anything although I'm not going to say I'm the same person I was. The feelings are just as I remembered it: camaraderie in arms and general unease. It's more like, I know better now and don't relish the thought, if that makes sense
Been having a lot of dreams lately where I'm somehow back in the military and stuck in some stupid conflict in the Middle East again. Not really sure it qualifies as a nightmare if I'm not like, terrified or get the typical sinking feeling in my chest, but it's definitely not fun.

To add, don't be one of these people running around saying anybody who joined up is some irredeemable monster. The military targets the young and the poor and acts as a way out for underserved classes. It's a ridiculous notion to expect a 17 year old to be a thoroughly-read anti-imperialist.
