Before 1619, there was 1526: The mystery of the first enslaved Africans in what became the United States Nearly a hundred years before enslaved Africans arrived in Jamestown, the Spanish brought 100 slaves to a doomed settlement on the coast of what is now Georgia or South Carolina.

In 2026, it will have been 500 years since the first kidnapped and enslaved Africans arrived in what is now the continental US.

They were the first to rebel against slavery, too. And they succeeded. #giftlink

Amazing how society continually forces students, families, and educators to do more for their own schools than the government that’s supposed to run them.

It’s not just systems; it’s the actors who make bad policy happen.

This cute little white dog will fuck you up with joy.

You’re welcome to Sagittarius season.

No invitations needed; we are the party itself. Keep it cute tho. We come with our own weapons. And by the way, it’s a flaming arrow. 🔥 Look it up. We did. We did our homework and you are our extra credit.

Get a taste quick; we Irish goodbye any bullshit.

A copy of the Black Britain Penguin edition of CLR James’s novel Minty Alley

Not as focused as I should be because I just got my hands on this edition of Grandpa Nello’s book and the prose is just so excellent, it’s hard to put down.

Also actually not sure I knew it was the first novel by a Black Caribbean writer ever published in England 😱

Let me shake the table:

When people have told me, "You've moved onto bigger and better things," I tell them, "No, I moved to something different and potentially as important."

The best professors have either extensive K-12 experience or enough humility to bridge the gap.

But power matters here.

“stay strong” Dearly Beloveds, I am writing to you across a day I cannot predict. But maybe that is always true. You will receive this on a day shaped by the countless (and possibly still being counted) decisions…

I honestly don’t think Americans understand how much their day to day lives depend on federal civil servants and now is the time for professional commentators to write op-eds explaining

I’m going to keep it real and hope I don’t get accused of overstating the issue; children’s liberation is the key to the future you want. The active, and often dismissed, oppression of children is near the root of what ails us as a nation.

An illustration of a handshake between a human and a fucked up AI monstrosity with the caption " you want us to respect art that wasn't worth the effort to draw?"

if this makes AI people mad it's not because of the message it's because I had an idea and drew it

This is massive. Despite not having a conventional workplace, these guys organized creatively and won against these massive gig companies. Solidarity forever.
