It’s “no politics at Thanksgiving (except when Uncle Bob decides it’s time to get a little casually racist, but don’t you dare correct him)” on an international scale

I think OP’s post is great. But I think that this is still a real issue that white people and anyone else falling for it needs to reckon with for us to advance.

Just like how not discussing wages at work is a grift that only helps your mortal enemy, the person that benefits the most from paying you as little as possible, your employer.

Her vote aside, among white people across the political spectrum, it IS taboo to talk openly about their politics.

This is a grift designed to maintain white supremacy across political divide. To keep them communing along whiteness with their enemies & ideological opponents.

MEN. Men! This applies to you as well!! If you are a man and you feel like you arent allowed to feel uncomfortable or have your boundaries respectes that is a lie patriarchy made up. You can tell women no, you can set boundaries with women, you can call out women who don't respect these things!

If it made you uncomfortable or uneasy or made you feel unsafe or unheard you are VALID in your feelings. In spaces where vulnerability is inherent you get to protect yourself by speaking up, leaving, or opting to stop talking to a person! You can call a thing a thing too.

We dont talk enough about the types of sexual assault/violation that aren't blatant. Things like pushing people's sexual boundaries or ignoring/pushing past someone's no when it's not explicitly a no to sex. Those gray areas that make you feel uncomfortable but you aren't sure if its worth the fuss.

Also teach them about keeping their own bodies safe and how to maintain safe boundaries with people they are round. Young boys become victims at a similar rate to young girls.

They should know how to keep their body safe and how to protect other people's body's from harm!

DILF in a box on my desk.

My first non-fiction book since coming out is called DILF: DID I LEAVE FEMINISM, and it's out now. Here, it is in a box on my desk, but it CAN be in your hands and brain if you click here: bookshop.org/p/books/dilf...

No, Jessica. You feeling bad about Black feminists making generalizations that obviously not every whyte cis lady meets is not needed right now.

Black feminists have written extensively about white women and their role in patriarchy.

It feels worth saying that the thing that unifies men as disparate as Noam Chomsky, Deepak Chopra and Trump is patriarchy. Patriarchy, hatred of women, and the need to dominate them, persists across race and class status. Left movements refuse a robust analysis of persisting gender violence.

That’s why she shouldn’t have gotten mad at those Black transfeminists for telling her to look at Black (trans)feminist works.

Well, I fear honestly that just what happens in terms of the feminism (particularly radfeminism/lesfeminism) she works with. 🤷🏽‍♂️ it tends to devolve under fascistic times. Looking at the parallels of Reagan coming into power and Trump doing so twice. History repeats. *shrugs*

Demonizing specifically white women who act in solidarity with racial minorities isn’t new. Here’s a southern political cartoon depicting Harriet Beecher Stowe, published in 1853. Surrounded by devils, she‘s holding a book titled “Uncle Tom’s Cabin.” Subtitle: “I Love the Blacks.”

This is interesting to me cuz when I read that article, I iust saw it as saying “ok, ur acknowledging that the gender relations suck, what are you doing more than just talking about it.” But maybe that’s cuz I read Sophie Lewis’ article too. Lol.

im preaching to the choir here but if you take anything from this bluesky account it's hammering it home basically once a week that "feminist politics & queer politics are utterly screwed if they are unable to politicize sexing the body. the battlefield of gender today *is* 'sex'"

219 27 1 1

dear lord. science is in fact on the "sex is the gendering of the body" side and the emphasis on "binary biological sex" is basically the longest-running broscience derived from rough heuristics. maybe we need some philosophy of science so bad

legitimately getting embarrassing that the overemphasis on a false "sex/gender distinction" rather than "sex is the gendering of the body" means that conservatives keep trying to gotcha liberals with "sex as biological reality" and the latter can only make incredibly weak counterarguments

Today's quick update [Jan 9]:

- On Day 1,000 of the war in Sudan, SAF reported airstrikes on RSF positions in Darfur and Kordofan, "as well as routes leading to southern Libya" (Sudan Tribune).
