Organizing the KNAW interdisciplinary conference on behavioral science and public administration (Behavioral Public Administration) 10 years ago was great. Economists, lawyers, psychologists, and some weird people from public administration :) all in one room.

More complaining. More rules. More micromanagement.
But we can begin elsewhere: by respecting peopleโs need for autonomy, competence, and connection.

Yes!
And coping behavior depends on their emotions. Example: anger is related to confronting citizens.

Financial Rewards Do Not Stimulate Coproduction: Evidence from Two Experiments
In a set of studies, we found that:
- Small financial rewards have no effect. That's wasted money.
- When the offered amount is increased, behavior changes, although only marginally.
Hence, money is not always the best motivator.
