15.11.2025 14:03 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I don't know what journalism's business model is going into the future, and frankly, I'm beginning not to care. So long as aspects of it involve tracking me like a ring-tagged sea bird as I use the internet, they can all fuck off.
15.11.2025 13:15 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The Guardian's new cookie shit is a great example. The options are: consent to us tracking your browsing on our site and see personalised ads, or give us Β£5 a month to see un-personalised ads.
How about I choose option C - stop reading your website?
"Consent or pay" cookie options are bullshit. They make a mockery of the idea of consent (it's not consent if you can only say no by paying).
Surveilance capitalism is a pox; we've all been way to apathetic about it. It should have been dead on sight.
A photo of a mallard duckling swimming on a pond surface in bright sunlight with its head raised and tilted back, poised to lunge out of the water at a mayfly hovering just above it. The water surrounding the duckling has ripples and plant debris floating on it and reflects hues of green and blue.

BlueSky is a bad site used by good people. That describes most social media sites. But BlueSky is egregiously unethical. Any of you can be disappeared for baseless reasons. I've been on social media for 17 years and never been suspended. BlueSky is the first place to do so β over Johnny Cash lyrics.

14.11.2025 16:53 β π 46 π 9 π¬ 1 π 0Also a one to two month lag on enacting consequences is confusing and counterproductive. If you are still figuring out how to implement, okay, but engage your user base on that learning edge and don't act like this is all perfectly reasonable and fine.
Good comms and some humility would go SO far

Please give your country or nationality if you feel comfortable doing so, for context
π«
Baseline tea consumption for me is 4 cups per day; mid-morning, mid afternoon (1.30/2.00ish), late afternoon (4-5ish), and mid evening (8ish). Some times, especially if I'm just hanging around the house, I'll basically double that.
In Wales.
Was surprised to see that's on the rarer side. π

The Creature from Frankenstein by Guillermo del Toro. It shows the creature embracing himself into a warm hug. He wears a fluffy coat and it's shaped like a leaf, the one he gave to Elisabeth. He also has a small ember on his chest.
