It is with a heavy heart that we relay the news of the passing of legendary Pirates and National Baseball Hall of Famer, Bill Mazeroski.
Maz was a 7-time All-Star who hit the greatest home run in baseball history. He was a beloved member of the Pirates family and he will be deeply missed.

Our communities are safer and more resilient from gun violence than they were four years ago because we took a different approach to public safety: community driven solutions.

I don’t know who needs to hear Jesse Jackson leading the kids on Sesame Street in this beautiful call-and-response reminding them that every child is somebody, but here it is

It was an honor to meet Rev. Jackson two years ago. From the front lines of the civil rights movement to global human rights advocacy, his moral courage moved a nation forward. His work was inspirational to me and so many others.

May his legacy and memory forever be a blessing. Rest in power.

I am proud to once again have the Pennsylvania Democratic Party’s endorsement to be your Lieutenant Governor.

Thank you for this endorsement @padems.org and I can’t wait to see what’s next for PA.

Can someone please explain to me how I'm supposed to tell my daughter that the person who posts racist videos is our president and worthy of respect?

I'm really struggling as a parent.

Over and over again he has shown us who he is. Folks should believe him.

It was great to kick off Black History Month, meeting with Pennsylvania’s Legislative Black Caucus to open up opportunities for collaboration in state government and what Pennsylvania can do to support all of our communities through the challenges they may face.

BREAKING: The Pennsylvania House just advanced a bill to finally raise our minimum wage to $15 / hour.

Yesterday, I called on both parties and both houses to get this done and put a minimum wage bill on my desk.

I am outraged by what’s playing out on the streets of Minneapolis by ICE under the direction of the Trump administration. What we are witnessing is not public safety — it is fear, trauma, and violence inflicted on communities.

3) Despite what people think, other English speaking countries outside of North America call it "soccer" (South Africa, New Zealand, Australia, Ireland) hell, the Australian National team is called the "Socceroos"

In short, folks should let people call it what they want and enjoy the game.🧵3/3

2) Soccer is slang for "association football" the actual name of the sport, which comes from "The Football Association" the governing body for England who invented the rules that were distinctly different from "rugby football". The term was invented and common in England until recently. 🧵2/3

It's both, because 1) "Football" is a catchall name for a game played on foot that involves a ball vs. sports that involved riding a horse (think polo or horse racing) 🧵1/3

The World Cup is coming to North America: So in 2026, is it ‘football’ or ‘soccer’? As the world descends on the USA, Canada and Mexico, it's time to fire up the age-old debate of what to call the beautiful game

From @theathleticfc.bsky.social: “Soccer” or “football”?

The origins of the various names for this sport, and the reason most of the world calls it “football,” are actually less clear than many fans assume. nyti.ms/49XShxc

For generations, southwestern Pennsylvania has been a hub for production and innovation– and we’re seeing that again today.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the new Esplanade development is an example of this innovation, and what we can achieve when government, business, and community work together.

Our members of Congress @houlahan.house.gov & @deluzio.house.gov have served this country with honor and dignity.

Donald Trump has no honor or dignity, and his call to “hang them” is a disgusting, disgraceful act.

You can’t go to work if you don’t have a safe, quality place to care for your kids. It’s why @pahousedems.com push for funding like this - it’s good for families, business and our economy.

An investment in our teachers is an investment in our children.

In this budget, we're directing $25 million to our child care teachers to put more money in their pockets and bring more workers to the Commonwealth. I'm grateful to all of the advocates who have fought hard to see this in PA.

2M Pennsylvanians will lose SNAP benefits in November because Congressional Republicans refuse to reopen the federal government.

Republicans control the White House & Congress, and they have a responsibility to govern. There is absolutely no reason Americans should go hungry on November 1st.

It is our responsibility to leave the next generation a country that's stronger than which we founded and where good public service is the standard in government.

We can do this and face all of our other challenges when we work together.

SNAP benefits for 2 million people in Pa. on hold during government shutdown | WITF Nearly 2 million Pennsylvanians who rely on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program will not receive their November payments due to Congress […]

Because Congressional Republicans shut down the government, nearly 2 million Pennsylvanians who rely on SNAP to put food on the table will not receive assistance in November.

That’s nearly 2M Pennsylvanians who will have less food to feed themselves and their families.
