Face challenges head-on. Don’t let the struggle define you. Transform it. Don’t seek approval. Create your own meaning.

Every struggle, every loss, becomes part of your strength. I believe in you.

Let's do this, writers.

When making any decision in your story, create a list of non-negotiable criteria that must be met.

If the idea does meet all of them then cut or do not use it.

Filter out the unnecessary, to focus on choosing the best option for the story you are telling.

After my writing & work is done, looking forward to taking my husky puppy for a walk. He thinks that is very exciting and usually tells me by peeing in the hall.

CREATIVITY TIP

Outline a book before you read it, or read the first half, stop and write an outline of the rest. Imagine what you will find (or what you want to find).

It will provide a good exercise for your imagination.

Rather than simply telling yourself that your goal is out of reach, find ways to encourage small victories when possible. These smaller compliments can help make room for growth while keeping you motivated.

Recognising PROGRESS can go a long way.

Making your plots or twist appear chaotic, predictable, or weak is a strategic decision that requires extreme discipline, skill and courage to pull off successfully.

It can be scary.

But if you do it effectively, your reader will thank you for it.

If you need to improve some aspect of your writing, simple as it sounds, act as though that trait is already one of your outstanding characteristics.

I'm not encouraging overconfidence or deception.

Encourage youself to work toward that standard you set.

To become great at our craft lies in our own hands, improvement lies in our mistakes.

In short, embrace mistakes as necessary and productive part of the creative process rather than sources of shame.

Stories express the idea that human beings can become a better version of themselves, psychologically and morally. And that’s why we love it.

Every couple of months review how your writing is going (AND BE KIND.) This is why it can be a good idea to keep a journal.

Look for patterns or trends you notice. What things keep appearing?
Small improvements can be hard to see but add up to a huge effect.

Get to know yourself as a Writer:

Identify what you naturally write well.

Identify what consistently falls flat.

Build stories around your strengths while deliberately training weaknesses.

But makes sure to be kind to yourself. You will get there.

Writing Tip:
Stress is a double-edged sword. Yes, you'll often write with more efficiency when under a time crunch or other stressful situation, but your quality will also drop and you'll inch further and further toward burnout. Balance and control your stress.

Greatness isn’t random. It needs the right conditions to appear. There must be a long period of quiet, saving up resources, waiting, and building of skill.

Happy writing!

The number of people willingly and gleefully outsourcing their brain to the billionaire's plagiarism engine for tasks they're more than capable of doing without it is genuinely breaking my will to live.

Great tip.

'Arrive late as possible, leave early as possible,' is the motto I follow with a scene or chapter. Easier said than done though.

Some other tips..

Read Regularly: Set aside time specifically for reading to broaden your perspective and allow for deeper thought. Lean toward classic over contemporary.

Practice Solitude: "Without great solitude no serious work is possible."

Create Dedicated "Escape" Time
Schedule Time to Think of new ideas, characters and plotlines:

Actively block out time in your calendar for thinking and writing down any ideas you can come up with. Treat this as a non-negotiable appointment.

Writing Tip:
Don't just write what's popular. Write what you like. Popularity comes after. It comes from from putting the energy and effort into your works and your readers connecting with that energy. Don't follow the success of others. Forge your own trail.
