I like to keep a journal on hand. Note down anything that interests me. Quotes, images, possible plot ideas etc. Then come back later and see if any can be combined, subverted or tweaked in any way.

I think we all need to encourage and support people more. It takes nothing from you to say something nice to someone else. Let's fill the world with positive encouragement instead of hate. (Sorry if this sounds sappy, but seriously people, why the F not?)

For sure. I'm going through line edits at the moment, and it really is tough. But, like you said, well worth it.

I spent ages trying to change one of my characters names, it just would not stick in my head. Lost cause it seems, haha.

Same. People who use AI to write novels for them aren't writers. Like using AI to make art makes you an art director at best, not an artist.

How much work goes into naming your characters?

It varies. Sometimes names just come to me and they get stuck, but I do like giving them a meaning for foreshadowing. But sometimes the opposite of what you expect...

Some before, but I do not like feeding my world builders disease ha/ and or procrastinate you know... actually writing the story. So, some before, then build out as I discover my characters.

You are crushing it. I'm making progress, slow, but its happening. Almost at the end of act 2 of my WIP. Hopefully be sending off to my editor by the end of the year.
