Automated library preparation has generally led to an increase in read depth. (a) The distribution of each sample’s read depth across sequencing platform and library preparation method is shown in the above histogram plots. (b) The distribution of read depth of samples sequenced on the Illumina MiSeq only. The mean, variance and skewness of each were calculated. Values for these are given in the top right of each figure.
