Absolutely, but usually the very best have a particular quality or two that is of a high enough standard to negate some of the physical gap initially. The ones today for example - Moorhouse and ball carrying, Obi and finishing, Amass and how secure he is in possession etc.
Big opportunity for some of the academy players today with the first team. Are they ready? In a perfect world probably not, but academy players don’t step up and make a name for themselves in perfect scenarios which is why they’re in the squad to begin with. Carrington to the rescue again. #MUFC

He's really stepped it up a gear this season, found a level of consistency that I wasn't sure he would after his injury. Some senior football might be good for him in January, hopefully we can get him a good loan somewhere.
Nice to see Louie Bradbury involved for the U21s tonight, had a good start to the season for the U16s and for Wales. 2 wonderful goals from Ethan Ennis so far to put us 2-0 up.
Some very poor challenges from the Altrincham players attempting to stop our counter attacks so far.

Academy side still looked like a 4-2-3-1, good for the youngsters to get in front of Amorim early and impress.
Interesting vid the club have just put out of the first team playing against a combined U21/U18 side in training. Clear emphasis on the wing-backs being high and wide as much as possible with the ball being switched wide before setting up a crossing opportunity or working the ball back inside.
