Excited to be at #ASCILITE2024 and always happy to hear the wise words of Gregor Kennedy who gave the opening address. He has had a big influence on the work and careers of many of us - and I am very grateful for his mentorship over the years.
Enjoying keeping up with all the #LAK24 goings on from afar. Can't be there this year, but looking forward to catching up with everyone @ #ALASI24 in Melbourne on 28th & 29th November. Details of the call for proposals will be available on the @SoLAResearch website very soon!
It's the end of the #ASCILITE23 conference, which has been great, & next year will be held in Melbourne at @UniMelb. Even better news is it will be co-located with #ALASI24 at @Deakin. Save the date: 28th & 29th November 2024. Call for proposals will go out early in the new year.
Excited to be in Christchurch for ASCILITE 2023. David White is kicking off the event with some interesting data... hopefully the start of a trend for the conference (interesting data, that is...).
The funny thing is - I don't think I'm all that great at organising things π Give me a research project or talk to do any day!
I experienced the invite drop off without having a child. The thing I did was move from a G08 to a non-G08, & took a role with less research time allocation. I'm invisible for projects/keynotes/etc. But when someone wants an event organised/program committee member, I suddenly come back into view π
Great start to ALASI23 at University of South Australia, hosted by Centre for Change and Complexity in Learning (C3L). Srecko Joksimovic welcomed us, Shane Dawson made us laugh, and we are now heading into the future with our opening panel "Shaping the future of learning: from insights to action".
It was bound to happen - I'm fairly sure the paper I just reviewed was mostly written by GenAI. A shame, as the research design was interesting, but expression & discussion was problematic. Reviewers are not plentiful right now (see my recent editorial) so it's frustrating to see this in practice π
