No. But the market does. And there will come a time when ordinary folk will overwhelmingly realise that renewables are the cheapest source of energy.

It's already happening. Private investment goes into renewables!

Fair enough - those seem to be the stats of Germany/France alone.

As for the EU, the stats I posted above are correct. They are pretty good!

Nuclear is 3 times as expensive as renewables, which is why France wants EU subventions now, as nuclear got them heavily indebted. It's unsustainable!

Yes, Solar Panels Can Be Recycled - Here's How Europe Leads the Way - INOX Solar Solar panels can and should be recycled, addressing a growing waste management challenge as Europe’s first generation of installations reaches end-of-life. Up to 95% of a solar panel’s components—incl...

Oh, and as I was curious myself, I had a look around and found this:

No idea. But these days one can recycle almost everything.

Apart from that, these solar panels will last several decades - it's not unrealistic to assume there will be ways of recycling them after all this time.

Recycling?

According to your link:

Germany 2025 - import = 76,20 TWh
Germany 2025 - export = 54,30 TWh

Not so bad in view of the fact that renewables are still being developed. There is considerably more potential with the right political will.

Having said that, the market will decide in the end! ;-)

The US-Israeli strategy failed to defeat Iran quickly – now they are moving to plan B | Paul Rogers It’s called the Dahiya doctrine – and the IDF and US air force are using it to destroy domestic support in Iran, says emeritus professor of peace studies Paul Roger

Where are those facts, then, other than you making them up?

Here's a bit of a reality check for you:

The Iranian people will be less free - suppressed even more by a regime that is more extreme and authoritarian than the previous one!

The US and Israeli attacks have achieved precious little militarily and in view of an Iranian nuclear bomb. And the people on the ground are left high and dry....

Let's talk about this again in 15 years! ;-)

No, it doesn't. Particularly not during the summer months!

France imports a lot from German renewables as well - this works both ways. ;-)

Germany is on the right path, with between 60 and 70% of renewables already. Coal is negligible, and gas is only a backup that won't be needed once electricity infra structure and storage will be developed.

The mullahs are still in power. The police and revolutionary guards are still in power. That won't change unless the US puts boots on the ground to drive them out of power!

You seem to be quite ignorant as to what is really going on in Iran. Stop listening to Trump and Hegseth - it's all lies!

Nobody is willing to pay for it. Private investors are shying away from nuclear, because too expensive!

And countries like France are heavily indebted because of it - which is why they are putting pressure on von der Leyen in order to garner EU subventions!

Not here in Germany. There is not a single nuclear power station here.

And the lights are still on!

Nothing wrong with that as long as the grid is functional. That's the problem with most european countries: They don't want to invest in extending the grid and make it functional. Very shortsighted!

Falling back onto nuclear here will not be the solution!

Again: It's a very expensive way of energy production. Heavily subsidised with taxpayers money in France and other european countries. And to top it all, it's expensive for the consumer as well!

Give it 15 years whilst China and other countries are pushing renewables, and nuclear will be out!

Giant Heat Pump Takes Over Entire Danish Town A heat pump can slash greenhouse gas emissions from buildings, but production needs to keep pace with demand.

No, they don't.

European Conservatives are merely trying to conserve. Same old, same old....

Thinking forward is not their thing! ;-)

And as we are seeing right now, it's already blowing up in their faces....

It will come. These things are getting invested in and developed, as we speak. In Denmark there are whole towns that get their electricity from just one giant heat pump!

The mullahs are still in power and in charge. They are suppressing the polation more than ever!

And that won't change, unless Trump puts boots on the ground.

But in view of the midterms, he's not going to do that, is he?

That's what ought to be invested in right now:

Extending the grid.

And electicity storage.

A "long term view" is precisely what you're not doing!

All the environmental friendly solutions are on the table. What's more, they are affordable! In any case much more affordable than nuclear power, with considerably less risk.

Renewables and EVs are the future!

And yet again, yet another dependency on some unstable regimes on account of where the Uranium and fuel rods are coming from.

There are so many downsides, other countries will pay the price before they know it.

You're flogging a dead horse!

And every summer nuclear plants in the south of France have to be turned down, as there isn't enough cooling water in the rivers and lakes thanks to Climate Change.

And do you realise how much nuclear costs? Just look at the exploding costs at Hinkley Point C!

As for nuclear waste, no solution!
