Genuinely, the art in these books is all so amazing and in my opinion really makes them one of the best souvenirs we have out at faire

A graphite-and-ink sketch of a sailor sitting on a barrel, playing a concertina. Scattered around him are various bottles, barrels, mugs, a lantern, and a partially-raised bit of sail for a backdrop. A puffin sits on a barrel next to him, listening intently. On the opposite side, a sea otter holds up a coin as if preparing to tip the musician. A pen-and-ink cartoon illustration for the song, "Wellerman." At the left side of the drawing is a small, 16th-century style sailing ship. Inside the ship is a tiny figure wielding a harpoon. The rest of the image is filled with a whimsical, monstrous right whale, loosely based on illustrations of whales from Renaissance drawings. (Obviously based on fanciful descriptions from sailors, instead of real-life reference.) It has gigantic scales like a sturgeon, multiple blow-holes, and a row of tusk-like fangs in its mouth instead of baleen. There are trees growing on the whale's back, a reference to an old folk story about sailors who mistake a gargantuan, sleeping whale for an island.

Had a charity project that needed a few quick spot illos, so I figured it might be a good justification for picking up a pencil and trying to sketch again. (Also, brush markers are terrifying and absolutely great for speed-inking.)

I promised myself today that I would do this, today specifically. I needed to prove to myself that when one is flexible and persistent they are able to overcome immense, seemingly insurmountable challenges. I know it's just a video game, but the lessons can be real. Carpe Bonkum!

So... behavioral activation therapy suggests a small reward for accomplishing your goals. Facing the hardest boss in Fromsoft history counts as a reward, right?
