I do need help with one more pick - poetry by a trans author. If anyone has any recommendations (that is hopefully available at my library) please let me know!

This was fun! Thank you for hosting!
24.05.2025 23:56 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Just finished up A Good Girl's Guide to Murder. Entertaining, but I had clocked the final twist pretty early so I wasn't that surprised. Still, it was enjoyable

Lots of different ways - recommendations from friends, social media (here, YouTube, etc.) or just random finds in bookstores that look interesting.

Just started this one today: Everyone on This Train is a Suspect by Benjamin Stevenson. I was a fan of the first book in the series when I read it last year, so I'm hoping for the same thing here.
This is gonna cover prompt 24 - Title is a Spoiler, for #the52bookclub reading challenge.

A Long Way to a Small Angry Planet is a really good book (as is the rest of the series). I hope you enjoy!

Finished! I knew I would love this book. I adore these characters, especially the kids. They make me laugh out loud all the time. Not to mention the audiobook narrator puts so much emotion into some of the heavier parts...I found myself in tears a few times. Thoroughly enjoyable.

20.05.2025 02:25 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I realized earlier that I've never shared the biggest thing that motivates me to read - reading challenges!! I love taking part in them. Currently doing two year-long challenges that I am enjoying. Here is my progress on each so far.

19.05.2025 12:56 β π 635 π 131 π¬ 3 π 5Aaand next read (because I have been on a book reading binge lately) - Somewhere Beyond the Sea by TJ Klune. I'm a massive fan of the whimsy in most of his work, so I'm pretty sure I'm gonna love this one too.

As someone who works in healthcare IT, thank you. That is a topic that needs so much more visibility.
18.05.2025 20:10 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It's a really good book and totally worth the read. The author does nothing to shield you from the attitudes of the 1920s, and in some places really highlights them. It's a story that more people should know...but I had to put it down and calm myself a few times before continuing.
18.05.2025 19:53 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Aaand finished. Good book well written. And OMG I wanted to throw this book across the room sometimes. Not because of anything the author did, but because of the treatment of the Osage. It wasn't surprising (racism is woven into the fabric of this country) but it was infuriating.

Character driven - always. You can have the most interesting, intricate plot ever but if I'm not invested in the characters and their arc, I'm out.

18.05.2025 02:32 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Oh...yeah, this is likely to be the next non-fiction I read, because I know I like his writing style. Thank you!
18.05.2025 00:47 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Thank you!! I've added it to my list!
18.05.2025 00:46 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Next read on my list is Killer of the Flower Moon. I've never been much of a non-fiction reader, but I read The Wager and was surprised how much I enjoyed it. Maybe I need to read more non fiction by David Grann. Any recommendations?

I've only done audiobooks with one or two narrators so far and I've enjoyed them very much. I should probably try and ensemble one of these days...
