Today we wrote to the UN Independent Expert on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity alongside 16 other LGBTI+ equality & human rights organisations to raise concerns about the human rights of trans people right now in the UK since the Supreme Court judgment & the EHRC’s proposed Code of Practice.

Mary-Ann Stephenson's appointment as replacement Chair of the EHRC is opposed by BOTH the Women and Equalities Select Committee AND the Joint Committee on Human Rights.

Will Starmer ignore MPs and further undermine the EHRC's independence by forcing through Bridget Phillipson's transphobic pick?

The only option is for trans individuals to take it to the ECHR and some NGOs might find this

I personally think it's very dangerous for a British court to have essentially changed the law, I suspect in order to spare the government from having to do so in The Commons. The implication is that basically every legal protection is now under threat through this mechanism.
