04.12.2025 10:19 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 1DIE MY LOVE and HAMNET: two female directors whose work I have thoroughly enjoyed in the past deliver a pair of insufferable melodramas about unlikable young couples screaming at each other while trying to raise children in the woods. Maybe itβs just me, or maybe itβs smug self-indulgent twaddle.
04.12.2025 08:58 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0New movies out today in Hong Kong: FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDYβS 2, DIE MY LOVE, GOOD BOY, ROAD TO VENDETTA, MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM IRON-BLOODED ORPHANS, UNDER CURRENT (06/12)
04.12.2025 06:23 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Gotcha. Definitely surprising.
04.12.2025 04:43 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I thought BATTLE ROYALE was on this list?
04.12.2025 04:39 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0SAVE THE GREEN PLANET: announced while I was on holiday, this absolutely stacked release of a seminal South Korean oddball masterpiece. Mad respect to @pierceconran.bsky.social and James Pearcey for all their efforts, and allowing me to contribute an essay. www.arrowfilms.com/p/save-the-g...
04.12.2025 04:08 β π 11 π 3 π¬ 0 π 1As someone who grew up in the Anglican Church (I'm the son of a preacher man) but never really found my faith, it was the importance of community and storytelling that helped me recognise and appreciate why my Dad does what he does. Josh O'Connor's character here absolutely nails that perspective.
04.12.2025 03:53 β π 11 π 2 π¬ 0 π 0WAKE UP DEAD MAN is definitely the most Miss Marple-y of @rianjohnson.bsky.social's Benoit Blanc whodunnits, what with its small rural parish setting. The MAGA allegory was just subtle enough to float, and really appreciated how refreshingly faith and the Catholic Church was represented. More pls.
04.12.2025 03:49 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 1Hong Kong has been reeling from an incomprehensible tragedy in recent days. I was given the daunting task of selecting 10 films that focus on communities enduring trauma and finding a modicum of catharsis. This was not an easy one. www.scmp.com/lifestyle/en...
02.12.2025 08:48 β π 15 π 4 π¬ 0 π 1MARTY SUPREME is fantastic. Essentially 50s-set UNCUT GEMS, with global ping pong aspirations replacing gambling and jewellery, but fuelled by the same heart-palpitating sense of desperation and unwavering self-belief. Somehow the 80s soundtrack completely works and Chalamet has never been better.
02.12.2025 08:38 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0WICKED FOR GOOD: even more aggressively mediocre than the first film. Performances suffer this time out from the lack of strong musical numbers and all the pivotal action taking place off screen. Looks terrible and poor Michelle Yeoh just cannot sing. Grande still MVP.

26.11.2025 18:09 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I saw this news the other day but don't know any specfics sadly. The subject matter certainly sounds like something that could raise a few red flags. Regarding last-minute cancellation, my guess is that the film was rejected and the festival appealed, not wanting to cancel ticket sales prematurely.

21.11.2025 13:41 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0All fun, to be sure, but a definite pivot away from the bone-crunching in favour of laughs after this one.
21.11.2025 10:45 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Nice! I still prefer THE OUTLAWS to this one - just - but holy crap is Son Sukku terrifying in this. (pts 3 and 4? Diminishing returns imo)

21.11.2025 03:24 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Sorry for the late reply! Shamefully only seen A Normal Family from this selection, although I've been sitting on a link for A Good Child for a while now so will make the ffort to get to that asap. Will keep an eye out for the others!
21.11.2025 03:11 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Slowly updating my website. Not a lot of original content there, but a convenient one-stop-shop to post links to all my reviews. There's still a lot to add, reformat, and plenty of broken links if you dig deep enough, but do take a look if you have a minute, and it's free of course. marshattacks.com
21.11.2025 03:06 β π 5 π 4 π¬ 1 π 0Always gets a bad rap coz Lazenby has the unfair "one movie/post-Connery" stink on him, but this is hands down one of the absolute best Bond movies. Great action, character development, world domination plot, and the ethereal Diana Rigg π Awesome theme tune - and it's also a Christmas movie!
