We are thrilled to announce that the meeting will feature a keynote from Patricia Mothes from Instituto Geofísico of the Escuela Politécnica Nacional (IG-EPN @igepnecuador.bsky.social ), who has a wealth of experience on each of the symposium themes, and is sure to provide some terrific insights.

This Pride I want to connect with and amplify more trans people who work in nature/ecology/conservation so please say hi and do a little introduction if you're trans and work with plants, animals, fungi etc. I'll repost and create a starter pack if enough people respond 🏳️‍⚧️

I'll be on the roster as a Flood Warning Duty Officer by August and will be appreciating the close relationship we have with the Met Office in order to make the important decisions of issuing flood alerts or warnings.

True, we are experiencing understaffing etc ourselves but not to this degree.

Labour minister says Tories should 'apologise' for pro-trans stance under Theresa May Labour’s health and social care minister, Karin Smyth, has called on the Conservatives to apologise for the party’s pro-trans stance.

If you still vote for, or are a member of the UK Labour Party after reading this, you have no morals, empathy or awareness of the Holocaust*.

What a nasty bunch the fundamentalists of the English Labour Party are. Solidarity to UK Queer, & especially trans, people.

Its more common in chalk stream areas (Hertfordshire where I'm based, and Yorkshire have the most chalk streams) but also can be gravel, which is more complicated.

Because you can't pump it out like river or surface water flooding. A colleague described it as "like trying to get rid of the water from an olympic swimming pool with a spoon" 😅

Its when a natural underground resevoir and the water table is at capacity and comes back up from the ground. Its because we had the downpours back in September and a wet winter (this is the 2nd year in a row now!). Groundwater flooding can stay around for months and there isn't an easy fix...

I was considering writing some thoughts to help cis people understand what's going on and what's needed... but I see who likes my posts about trans news and I can extrapolate who doesn't, so what's the point? Other than a very few allies who already know the things, who's going to read it?

• Came 8th place in my category for a national archery competition
• Got a local recognition award at work
• Almost a Flood Warning Duty Officer
• Embraced my inner nerd and started collecting cards

Fortunately quiet yes! But groundwater flooding has been persistent, so I'm still a little bit busy 😅
