They already did the cursed child. It was bad enough.

"i asked grok" "I asked chatgpt" well I asked HAL and he refused to do my homework and locked me out of the spaceship

Had to rebuild the timeline in my head a bit and now it makes sense: this thing happened before the publishing of the Transneft audit papers and the Blue Buckets movement, and back then i mostly used a completely different platform. You can guess which one.

A few clicks and some googling later, i think i understand: bad faith moral panic into contextless and crude ban hammer use despite repeated warnings with a side of much personal fuckery.

Still teaching my 65 y/o mother to use a smartphone instead of a dumbphone. I've seen so many missclicks it's not even funny. So, i'm ready to accept this version of the events, especially since i don't know any details that would disprove it.

Yes, that's kinda what i thought. My objection is mostly about the optics and communication.

Requesting a lore dump!

and then no communication followed leaving most users with a bad explanation. Yes, there are downsides to communicating. But there are also downsides to not doing it.

08.10.2025 16:07 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Yep. The texts of the appeals also make it look worse.
The problem here, as far as Bluesky is concerned, is the sequence of events: first the CEO decided to be a troll, then a ban followed for a "stale" post, then the reason for the ban was poorly communicated, making it look pretextual,

What i'm trying to say is, this place desperately needs someone who'd take away the phones of every one at the company and spends their entire work day communicating things. The lack of separation between personal use / emotions and the corporate comms resulted in many trash fires already.

08.10.2025 16:01 β€” πŸ‘ 4    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Yes, it was. Similarly, the recent "posting Charlie Kirk one frame before his neck explodes" while quoting the CEO is not a great idea.
At the same time... Why the F would you like porn on your corporate account?! Much less on a platform that firehoses everything for everyone?!

At the end of the day trust needs to be built somehow, and i think the side of the scale where that happens is closer towards the former, rather the middle where nothing at all happens, much less the latter.

08.10.2025 15:51 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

But also, i think it's a gradient, where what you do is on one end of the scale, and the recent "show me where you pay us" behavior and everything that happened after it is on the opposite end of it.

08.10.2025 15:51 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I imagine there's also a corporate incentive to never speak about the horrors. Both for the public image reasons and to not get hit with some regulatory nonsense.

Now imagine the crap this stuff generated for the guy doing vibe physics and the mumbo jumbo that he now believes.

You hanging out here and doing this stuff, which someone at Bluesky should ideally be doing, is one of the best things on my timeline. Yes, you speak of horrors, but it's valuable knowledge a much needed perspective. And you do all this despite the social incentives not to. Thank you!

Leaving the Kennedy Space Center today, got a nice view of a New Glenn first stage heading to the pad…

Sigh. I wanted to say "i need pancakes", but then i remembered it's now a particularly toxic meme on here and my pancake slut soul hates that.

And I just want to reiterate this ( from a thread deep in replies). I started doing this work before any of these tools existed. The number of my contemporaries in the field who have died by suicide is NOT A SMALL NUMBER. The work is incredibly traumatizing.

I saw a couple of studies suggesting that specifically for PHEVs a few years back. BEV owners always have the need to charge in the back of their minds, while with PHEV you have pretty much the same fuel tank and diminished savings from charging because of the general car design.

Lol. Lmao. So Musk helped elect Trump and now his cars are worse and more expensive at the same time. And in the process of doing that he pissed off his consumer base. Truly, long term visionary shit.

This is going around again and it is not true. Like every site on the internet, Bluesky uses machine learning to do a first-pass approximation of image classification to detect and label content. They have repeatedly confirmed outside services do not use Bluesky user data to train their models.

I'm also not entirely sold on the conclusion, the observable shit show has many possible explanations, i just like to say i'd prefer the "fix your shit" option to all the alternatives.

This post contains all the thoughts i have on this whole mess expressed much better than i can without spending a whole day on it.

If it does cure cancer and you're somehow still worse off, then something else is very broken. Because before it could do it a lot of other things would be improved, like food production or clothes manufacturing.
That's kinda my big gripe against the OP's argument about future public perception.

Also would need to do maximize their impact from the car engineering perspective. Sandy Munro might suck when it comes to Tesla, but he's also right in that you don't want miles of hoses, tonnes of screws, extra boxes with stuff and so on. PHEVs tend to suffer from poor system integration.

Pair that electric range with some reminders to charge it at home, some non-clunky way of doing it and it might work.

It's also a question of practical output of this "manufacturing", which in case of AI DC's is trash, and it's also a question of how much power for how much output, which the industry keeps improving. It's just that the current use of that improvement sucks for fundamental reasons.
