Maybe it *is* time to quit

The Avatar cards actually look really really cool. That's the sad thing, I could well enjoy Universes Beyond in some measure, if all the other symptoms of endless corporate greed were not so devastating to the accessibility and enjoyment of Magic 🤕

If this were true, the PT where I got deck checked 3 times would've had some pretty serious health implications

As we cycle through decks so quickly through all the new standard sets I think supporting pioneer as a space for players to keep their old standard decks but upgrade them with stronger tools is really important

But what do I know

I've accepted that a LOT of Magic isn't for me anymore. The mantra of "This isn't for you, and it's okay." is valid and correct, and helps ease the FOMO.

However, it's hard to feel connected to the game when I have to repeat that mantra most of the time.

At some point, "most" might become "all".

As for competing at the higher levels, I don't know yet. I likely won't be able to go to the next Pro Tour even though I have the invite. I've loved playing them so much it's hard to imagine I'd never do another one, but at least right now it feels good to have a longer break.

YES. Late PS2/early PS3 is exactly where I'd put the point after which graphics improving hasn't really done anything for me.

I'm definitely not *quitting* Magic. But I will likely disengage from it a lot. The thought of giving up on trying to keep up and maintain any selection of meta-relevant decks or a collection of format staples feels like a huge relief.

And obviously I've been playing Mtg competitively which adds its own stress, but even then I feel like it shouldn't be like this. It's too much new stuff all the time, zero time to enjoy the new cards before you already need to engage with the new thing and buy new expensive upgrades to keep up 2/

I've been having a LOT of fun trying out FaB, and it's got me thinking: I've become pretty burnt out on Magic. I can't remember when was the last time my feeling for a new set was "I'm so excited!" rather than "I'm so tired" 😔

I'm not sure if the product "Magic: The Gathering" is for me anymore 1/

This. I believe better graphics can improve the experience up to a point, but we've long since diminished those returns to a zero. Especially in AAA titles gameplay and performance have been extensively cannibalized in chase of increasingly photorealistic horse testicles.

Went to another Flesh And Blood Armory, this time in my soon-to-be new hometown of Oulu😊 I'm so excited to see there's a really passionate and welcoming community, events are firing and people get together to hang out and play for fun.

We just got a used PS2 for the living room, and it was such a whiplash that you just plug in a few chords and it's ready for use 😅

There's a bubbling cauldron of negativity that is usually kept calm by adding enough good ingredients to keep the soup at a simmer, but when many things happen at once and don't feel properly addressed, it boils over.

The vibes are bad because we don't have any indicators of good change.

While there IS extra negativity spread by creators because negative content performs the best, I think at it's core the MTG frustration is REAL.

And saying "not everything is for you" is training players to actively disengage from the brand.

i don't feel like magic set surveys usually have this question and i don't appreciate the implication that content creators, who do so so much for the game, are possibly to blame for a bad set's poor performance. 👎

Even more Flesh and Blood today! Played my very first Armory event with Ira, and then another match for fun with Kayo!

The best possible sign for a game is when I get super excited to play and learn more even while getting my ass kicked non-stop 😅 I worry I'm getting hooked

We finally finished our epic Descent: Legends in the Dark Campaign! The final session was delayed for a long time by some, err, technical difficulties (some devices got fried and getting the save files for the app out both times was a bit of a hassle), but we finally got there! 😅🥂

After doing Magic full blast for the whole year, I wanted to try some other games now that I finally have downtime. I had a lot of fun playing @fabtcg.com with a friend, and really looking forward to trying an Armory event this weekend!

Magic the Gathering Arena game of Jund Sacrifice vs. UW Control; moment of victory with three Mayhem Devils pinging the opponemt to zero.

After all these years, it's still unbelievable how much joy I get out of playing a couple random ladder games with this deck ❤️ I instantly remember how I fell in love with this game.

Makes it all the more sad what they've done to Pioneer 💔 what I wouldn't give to play another PT with Sacrifice 😭
