Also it's just so wonderful and interesting seeing what people are up to in the writing communities. <3
This may come off as self-serving, but I genuinely believe that critiquing other writers' works should become part of your regular process. Not only does it help other writers, it can improve your own work when you're looking at what you like or what needs to be improved in other works #authorsky
I'm talking about writing, but this works for art as well.
Going through the process of revisions is so interesting. It's like taking a mound of mash potatoes and attempting to carve it into something that resembles art.
And suddenly I'm hungry for potatoes.
Happy #yearofthehorse
Just putting this out there, but my first draft for my epic fantasy novel is now done at 222,118 words.
Now to plan revisions (and word count reduction, lol).
I am so happy.
Happy New Year!
I've spent the last two months (except for Xmas) furiously writing and I'm proud to say I have written over 170k words in 2025 for my novel - still not finished the first draft. I'll come up for air soon and talk about this more, but I'm excited. π

This set of observations is produced by my scrolling Reddit and otherwise listening to people talk about "how to write."
A) there is no requirement that any of your characters has any sort of "arc" let alone a redemption.
B) there is also no requirement that your fiction has a plot.
Coming up for air. I've written 156k so far of the first draft (will do serious editing in 2nd draft), still have not come up with a title yet, but I'm happy with the characters and 90% of the plot. Still have to stick the landing.

Happy first of Novel writing month! I'm participating in #FaNoWriMo (Fantasy Novel Writing Month) and my goal is to finish my first draft, which I'm hoping will fall about 50k words.
I've written 95k so far, so this is officially my starting word count. #novelwritingmonth #fantasywriting
I am mentally preparing for novel writing month, with my goal to finally finish this first draft. Just putting that out there.
But you still only have one face and no skin tones from what I could tell. I believe you can choose male or female and that's it.
Seriously, it's nearly 2026, if you're adapting a popular TTRPG (stress on the RP) for a video game give us customizable characters.
I was sort of interested in VtM: Bloodlines 2... until I found out that you can't really customize your character which is an interesting choice for an RPG.
Oh no! I always said I'd (probably) return to WoW when it gets player housing!
I can write 500 words or I could decorate a bathroom in Animal Crossing New Horizons.
Well the bathroom is okay so far, at least.

Here is the other color version. When I think about pieces I am drawn too, I love a muted color pallet. I piece that looks like it's had a life, bleached by sun and time. The colors also remind me of the cold winter nights while on a moonlit snowshoe with my family in the forests of Vermont.
Ettore Mazza's art of archaic humans and human ancestors. (the Homo Habilis being attacked by both a croc and a leopard is based on a real fossil, BTW.)

I can now fill a post with completed works of my characters!
I'm always in a cycle of refining their designs, but seeing them in color is a huge personal milestone.
