Yeah. He honestly recycled a lot of beats from higurashi too instead of coming up with new stuff. Really, f felt like a teeny-bopper anime by the end instead of a grounded and surrealist work.

It's sad because this could've been up there with SH2 and 3 given a proper editor got ahold of it.

The best outcome would've been to just have the default ending and end it 10 mins before the actual ending and I would've enjoyed the story a lot. It would've been something to think about and piece together. The more that was explained the more it became obvious how shallow the entire experience is

Guessed that this would be the case somewhat as the Higurashi / Umineko writer, imo, has always been quite terrible but the default bad ending was the best ending by far and gave me hope for the new game plus endings but they all progressively made things worse and retroactively nullified symbolism.

No spoilers, but the game ultimately destroys any stakes, any fear factor and is sexist as the entire thing revolves around men. None of the female characters mattered and the substance abuse themes are an after thought by the end. Not only that, but the combat wears you down with endless gauntlets.

I got the true ending in silent Hill f and I retract every positive thing I had to say. This game blows.
