There are some cons too though. Mainly, cross-platform. Alas, Mono only has an incomplete implementation of Windows Forms since it's mainly a wrapper around the Windows API.

Either way, pros and cons to it, but hey, keep an eye out maybe if you like C# and don't need the whole web framework stuff.

There are benefits to the old WinForms though even if you're not an Enterprise developer (where it's still REALLY important today); ever struggle with designing your UI/UX in Electron, MAUI, or any of the other web frameworks?

Now, it is true that native desktop applications aren't as relevant to the world as they were 15 to 20 years ago, what with web technologies replacing native solutions, but the XAML-based solutions of today just can't beat drag & dropping controls into the Designer and calling it a day.

While I'm here, let's talk about WinForms a little bit. WinForms is old. Like, 2002 old, introduced with .NET Framework 1.0

Although Microsoft declared it to be in "Maintenance Mode" in 2014, there's just one thing about it that just hasn't been replicated again to the same extent: The ease of use.

The tumor is benign, but alas she is much too old for surgery, her kidneys aren't in great shape so the vet strongly advised against removing it. In the meantime we're trying to encourage her to lay on side opposite of it. Still, thank you.
