Long covid means I am having a great writing week if I can do 2k words in an entire week. Sigh
That is a lot
Fuck all the way off with this. The student protesters were physically attacked -- some of them maimed permanently with life-altering injuries -- and relentlessly persecuted, doxxed, and hounded by school administrators, local police, and federal authorities while their attackers remain untouched.
I did an 18k day once. It sucked.
I did also once write a 14k story overnight on a 40 dollar bet.
I'm a sucker for a bet I think I can win, sigh
That was about what I did once over about 20 hours. Never again.
I know this community very well. The Shenandoah club the Temple Israel statement refers to as providing food and shelter during this attack is the club established by Iraqi Chaldeans. This is really beautiful interfaith solidarity in action.
Real talk: Progressives have completely failed to adequately address the significant impacts of Long COVID, and this has left an opening for the far right to exploit vulnerable patients and deceitfully blame vaccines for all chronic illnesses.
It’s very strange that many headlines today are a about war making petroleum more expensive rather than war killing people, harming people, destroying the environment.
9 million Americans have ME/CFS. There are still no FDA-approved treatments. This year, Congress can change that. Here's what we're asking for in FY27 appropriations: 🧵
Sorry for the lack of activity it’s literally just this

A statement from Temple Israel in West Bloomfield, Michigan:
😢RIP Michael. Thank you for all the beauty. #illustrator #art
The GOP has found ways for unlikely bills to pass before. Call your reps and tell them NO, regardless of where they currently stand!
I met with AI data labelers in Kenya who are organizing their colleagues to fight the brutal working conditions and horrible pay given to the workers at the "bottom of the AI supply chain." They believe the NDAs they've signed are unenforceable so are speaking out:

Cliché & basic point, i know, but it's really fucked up how many people refuse to ask "but how will we pay for that" about war & jail shit.
Like they fully & fundamentally accept & believe in endless money taps for killing & jailing & hurting other people, but not like… food or medicine or housing.
How Costa Rica regrew its rainforests: with laws, economic incentives and tourism. Costa Rica has completely reversed its rampant deforestation from the 20th century, lifting natural forest cover from under 25% by 1985 to well over half the country today. Vox buff.ly/OGCgXQx #ShareGoodNewsToo
Read that number again.
I got through winter with a giant apple pie candle... not to be underrated, candles
The second book of The Astral Kingdoms Trilogy now has both a name and a cover!

Thank you so much, @magalivilleneuve.bsky.social, for such incredible artwork. I could not have envisioned a more perfect representation of Isabelle.

Super cool.
"Something ineffable happens when you write down a thought:
You think something you did not know you could or would think and it leads you to another though. The process of writing itself leads to previously unthought thoughts [and] crystallizes half-formulated or unformulated thoughts"
- Lynn Hunt
That is just utterly cool af
This site needs a break. Post 3 good things, none of which are the cessation of a negative.

This is just what I needed to see today.
E-bikes take cars off the road and that's really important. They also give people freedom, independence, and access to the world without a car.
But they're also fun as hell. And bikes *should* be fun!
"People used to be excited about tech, now they dread what data you're going to steal next, they dread what violation of privacy or the environment will turn up next."
this whole missive will make you want to stand on your desk and yell "O CAPTAIN, MY CAPTAIN!," but that bit really got me good
