Thanks to Musée du quai Branly-Jacques Chirac, and Julie Gordon, Stephanie Leclerc-Caffarel, Eléonore Kissel, and Ina Reiche for the invited lecture today for the DIM Patrimoines matériels. An engaging research discussion on approaches to collaborative research on Indigenous objects in museums.

The next stop on my #DIMPatrimoinesmatériels visiting professorship is an invited lecture at #MuseeduQuaiBranly (11 July, Paris), on our collaborative research into the complex biographies of Museum objects including materials analysis alongside Indigenous knowledges, through the lens of #ochre.🧪

#Rockart researchers use the same tools worldwide. From the “Grotte Chauvet, l'aventure scientifique” exhibit #Chauvet2, however many are in our #archaeologicalscience lab. This display has a lot less dirt encrusting the gear than usual, but a great way to share research with the public.

The next event in my DIM Patrimoines visit will be a scientific workshop at @c2rmf.bsky.social , which features a great lineup of experts in #rockart and #ochre. I will be giving two keynotes, one on ochre provenance and one on collaborative #archaeologicalscience.

I had a terrific visit to #EDYTEM and University Savoie Mont Blanc with Emilie Chalmin and Hélène Salomon. Highlights were visiting the lab and learning their work on #ochre and #rockart, and visiting #Chauvet2 and “Grotte Chauvet, l'aventure scientifique” and meeting many of the researchers.

First presentation stop is the EDYTEM laboratory at Universite Savoie Mont Blanc, to give a presentation about the "Layers of Technology: Novel Archaeological Science Approaches to Mineral Pigments". Looking forward to meeting colleagues and making new connections. #UniMelb #archsci #cnrs🧪

Today I touched down in Paris for my 3.5 week visit to work with French colleagues on the analysis of #ochre and #rockart, and to explore the #rockart connections between France and Australia. 🪨🖌️

Terrific presentation by Sophie Vogelsang on "Unravelling the Chemistry and Aging of Culturally Important Australian Plant Exudates" in the #ArchaeologicalScience Seminar Series. Sophie is a PhD student from Uni Wisconsin jointly supervised in Arch Science Lab, analysing exudates by py-GC-MS.

Great to be a part of the Desert to the Sea LP and to share and learn with everyone this week. More research to come on analysis and connection of ochre and plant exudates in museum collections with Traditional Owners, #WAM Boola Bardip, PhD students and @crar-m.bsky.social.
