1) this is awful, I haven’t heard about this, thank you for sharing and 2) omg you are also in NH?! It’s rough out here as women of color (speaking as a Native woman from the Southwest). it’s comforting that you are also out here!

I think here on the East coast the trail design lack switch backs that we have in a lot of west coast regions, so the straight up mountain summit makes it challenging. Or course, areas like the cascades have direct routes and elevation, which is also why they are so challenging!

lol, this is def west coast elitism! I had just having this discussion with friends because I also had this attitudeβ€” it’s only 4000 ft, these are baby mountains… but when you start to hike a lot of the big peaks in the white mountains, they are surprisingly challenging.

One zombie factoid is so pervasive in my field that I knew a corrective footnote in my book wouldn’t suffice. So last year I published a whole article debunking & explaining how it undermines #Indigenous knowledge. It’s bad already; LLMs will make it worse. academic.oup.com/bioscience/a... #pocosin

The majority of DOGE's "work" is to use LLMs to search federal grants for the keywords "LGBTQ," "BIPOC," and similar, and then to cancel those grants.

They are targeting minorities in the most literal, automated way. The outcomes of this are all over their own website:
