Former cabinet minister Kirsty Duncan dies at 59 Former Liberal cabinet minister Kirsty Duncan has died at the age of 59 after a years-long battle with cancer.

Oh, this is such sad news.
The Honourable Kirsty Duncan was a friend of Citizens Climate Lobby from our very beginnings. She guided us and we loved her very much. She was a hard-working MP and cabinet minister.
Sending love to her family and friends.

Why zero‑sum thinking is not strength History shows that progress accelerates when a coalition of the willing moves first.

Today, our national director got an OpEd in The Hill Times bringing together Carney’s speech, economist Simon Sharpe, cooperation and climate change.
“If you want to be incrementally better, be competitive. If you want to be exponentially better, be cooperative”.

Last week, PM Carney called for unity at the citadel in the Plains of Abraham.
Not the best choice.
(Read Quebec newspapers). Here’s an alternate suggestion.

We love the people of the United States.
We deliberately joined a US organization because our economies, cultures and histories are so intertwined.
Peaceful protesting is the right of all people living in democracies.
We can see with our own eyes what is happening and it’s horrifying.

Yes, It’s Fascism Until recently, I thought it a term best avoided. But now, the resemblances are too many and too strong to deny.

Sooner or later this president going to pull the trigger of full on economic war with us just as at war with those who do not agree with him or look like his people.

This week in Davos: Zero‑Sum Thinking Is Not Strength Nostalgia is not a strategy.

Two worlds collided in Davos and there was rupture.
This our response.
Clinging to zero-sum narratives is not strength. Attempts to dominate rather than cooperate lock countries into defensive postures that slow innovation and amplify instability.

Catherine Ethier's Testimonial
She is from Newmarket-Aurora

I support the Climate-Aligned Finance Act (CAFA) because, as a former energy regulator, I have seen firsthand how misalignment between policy objectives, regulatory frameworks, and capital allocation creates systemic risk. Climate risk is not theoretical-it is operational, financial, and material.
CAFA addresses this reality by moving Canada beyond voluntary commitments toward clear alignment and accountability. It requires reporting entities (including federally regulated financial institutions) to integrate physical and transition climate risks into governance, decision-making, and capital allocation, consistent with Canada’s legally binding climate commitments and global net-zero pathways.

What distinguishes CAFA is its focus on credibility and delivery. By embedding climate expertise, strengthening transparency, and aligning financial flows with real-world outcomes, the Act supports prudent risk management, protects financial stability, and enhances Canada’s long-term economic competitiveness.
The energy transition will be financed. CAFA helps ensure it is financed by design-with foresight and accountability-rather than by crisis. That is why I support CAFA.
