🧵 Amid reports of a potential Israeli ground invasion, expect some obfuscation of the facts. Here are some things you need to know:

• Up until this latest escalation, Israel had been conducting near-daily strikes on Lebanon in violation of the November 2024 ceasefire. (1)

Of course, those in Lebanon are not inherently more or less valuable than anyone else who is suffering or dying.

Every life is a universe unto itself. Every life has inherent value and the erasure of any life is an incomprehensible crime, a historic tragedy.

I wish we could tell the individual story of every 773 of the people killed in Lebanon over the last 12 days, particularly the 103 children.

A WHO report from Nov 2024 showed that more healthcare workers had proportionally been killed in Lebanon than Ukraine and Gaza.

The war crimes accumulate and accumulate and accumulate.

Israel’s Arabic language spokesperson has accused Hezbollah of transporting weapons in ambulances & threatened to target them.

There is no provided evidence of this but there is evidence of Israel killing medics, doctors, nurses, first responders and medical infrastructure.

ICYMI, today Israel dropped two sets of leaflets on Lebanon, one which refers to the "outstanding success in Gaza," carrying an implicit threat for the country and another which calls on people to effectively report on each other and share intel with IDF Unit 504.

Dystopian.

It is 4 March 2026 – a sunny day in the heart of Beirut. If only it weren't for this war that no one here wanted. It is an absurd reality that those in power and those who would like to be decide the fate of millions of people overnight. The war against Iran, supported by the US and long desired by Israel, is destabilising the entire region. In the midst of it all is the war that is often hidden in the turmoil and unimaginable scale of th is war against Iran, a war which blatantly violates international law. Yet the consequences of this hidden war are devastating and impossible to ignore in Lebanon.

Seems it was a return to the use of breaking sound barriers and now there are reports of Israelis dropping leaflets over Beirut.

don't let it become easy money for Hezbollah's weapons. Unit 504 is working to ensure the future of Lebanon and its people, believing in the principle, "If your neighbor is well, you are well." If you want to be part of real change and contribute to the prosperity and protection (2/3)

Lebanese people! For everyone's sake, it's best that these pages are filled with words. Therefore, you must remove Hezbollah's shield. Iran's shield. Lebanon is your decision. Not someone else's. Stability isn't just a word; it's the right of every Lebanese. Your satisfaction is yours— (1/3)

They are dropping leaflets, supposedly in Hamra, which I can't confirm yet. They are inciting the population against each other. Israel is playing with fire and civil strife. Translation below.

A loud boom over #Beirut was heard in Hamra. Either this was an attack, or we're back at this level of psychological warfare where #Israeli warplanes start breaking the sound barrier regularly over the heads of over 2 million Lebanese in the capitol.

Israel has so far ordered around 14.25% of the entirety of Lebanon to be forcibly evacuated.

That’s in less than 2 weeks

Updated numbers: eleven deaths, 30 injured by this violent attack by #Israel on #Beiruts public beach and seaside.

#Israel just attacked „Al Ramlet El Baida“, #Beiruts public beach area. So far there have been reports of many injuries and more than 8 deaths. This is a public beach where people stroll the seaside and where many displaced people who couldn’t find shelter slept. This is pure horror.

Even more frightening, as Lebanese ministries announce, all 4 wounded victims of this blatant attack are reportedly civilians. This reminds me of AI-based warfare, with all its mistakes at the cost of human lives that @justinsalhani.bsky.social explained in his latest piece @thedialmag.bsky.social.

In the early morning hours, Israel targeted for the second time the inner circle of #Beirut. Don‘t get me wrong, Dahyieh (southern suburbs) are as much a part of Beirut, as what I’m referring to as the „inner circle“. Nevertheless, the latter are considered safe areas. The signals send are clear ⬆️.

Lebanon’s Ministry of Health reports 394 people died since Monday from Israeli attacks.

22 percent of those are children. That’s 86 children in a week.
